## Inside the Advanced Acoustic Concepts Award

[Advanced Acoustic Concepts](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/000qxdv/advanced-acoustic-concepts), a U.S.-based provider of undersea warfare solutions, will build the modules for the Navy's Mine Countermeasures mission under the "Find, Fix and Finish" approach. The capability lets sailors remotely detect, locate and classify undersea mines from safer stand-off distances.

The module suite integrates advanced sonar, mission management software and remotely operated vehicle technology. It includes a multiview towed Synthetic Aperture Sonar for high-resolution mine detection and imaging, which the company said reduces false target rates, and AI-augmented Automatic Target Recognition algorithms that let sailors process, classify, map and manage mine-hunting data.

"The ability to counter undersea mine threats remains fundamental to maritime security and naval mission success," said Rob Geckle, CEO of Thales North America. "By advancing the Navy's MCM capabilities, this program will help strengthen fleet readiness and support mission success in an increasingly dynamic operating environment."

Mike Carnovale, President of Advanced Acoustic Concepts, said the program combines mine warfare technologies across the Thales portfolio with AAC's experience delivering integrated undersea warfare capability to the U.S. Navy.

Thales UK said the same month it can offer a UK-sovereign, ready-to-field core system for Project NYX under a Minimal Deployable Capability approach, according to EuropaWire.

## What Comes Next for the Navy Program

The award covers two RMH modules and engineering support, with options for additional modules that could increase the cumulative contract value to approximately $196.2 million.
