The Taiwanese memory maker is widening its NOR flash, NAND and eMMC portfolios toward higher densities, lower power consumption and greater reliability.\n\n## Macronix Widens Flash Lineup as AI Demand Grows\n\nMartin Lin, director of marketing at Macronix, told EE Times Taiwan that the changes brought by AI are not simply about increasing memory demand, but that \"the entire memory architecture is changing.\" The company expects the combined market for NOR flash, SLC NAND and low-capacity eMMC of 32GB or less to reach around $24 billion in 2026, driven by higher shipments and price increases from constrained supply.\n\nPrices for NOR flash, SLC NAND and eMMC are expected to rise further in the third and fourth quarters of 2026 before stabilizing at elevated levels. Macronix calls the pricing effect \"MemFlation.\" Lin said AI servers use far more flash than conventional servers, with the latest rack generation carrying more than 1,000 devices, against around 600 to 800 in the previous generation.\n\nMacronix has 48- and 96-layer 3D NAND products in mass production and is developing higher-layer-count technologies. Its NOR flash process is moving from 55nm to 42nm, with 3D NOR under development, and low-voltage flash is progressing from 3V and 1.8V toward 1.2V.\n\n## Record Third-Quarter Profit Preceded the Expansion\n\nMacronix reported record third-quarter 2026 results, with gross margin reaching 70.5% and net profit after tax of NT$109.5 billion, or about US$3.37 billion, DIGITIMES Asia reported on October 28, 2026. In July 2026, Macronix and Winbond Electronics both posted record monthly revenue as memory prices rose, DIGITIMES Asia reported on August 8, 2026. Macronix reported consolidated net sales of NT$7.73 billion for July 2026, AInvest reported on August 7, 2026.\n\n## Sandisk and ChangXin Also Expand Memory Capacity\n\nSandisk is relocating 120 employees to a new campus in Bar-Lev's North High-Tech Park in northern Israel, [CTech](https://www.calcalistech.com/ctechnews/article/ryhivehhmx) reported on October 20, 2026. ChangXin Memory Technologies has not disclosed the yield rate for its 4F² process, and mass commercial use faces a production hurdle, [Citmt](https://www.citmt.cn/news/202610/126799.html) reported on October 19, 2026.\n\n## Electronica 2026 Showcase Set for Munich\n\nMacronix will present its latest nonvolatile memory technologies and application solutions at electronica 2026, held November 10 to 13 in Munich, Germany, including automotive electronics and edge AI applications. The company will exhibit at Hall C5, Stand 279, according to [its own announcement](https://www.macronix.com).\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
