[Yahoo](https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/brother-wolf-unveils-adoption-veterinary-163103774.html) published the report. The organization has raised $12.7 million and needs about $5 million more to complete the facility.\n\n## Inside Brother Wolf's Tunnel Road Campus\n\nThe facility will occupy the Tunnel Road building that formerly housed Black Dome Mountain Sports, according to the report. It will have a main building and a secondary building, with dog yards between the two. The main building will serve as the adoption center, while the secondary building will be Brother Wolf's care center, where animals are fully vetted before adoption. The care center will have space for surgery and dental procedures.\n\nCraig said around 80% of the animals Brother Wolf takes in come from animal shelters in underserved, rural areas that lack the resources to provide veterinary care. \"Having veterinary facilities on site with this new campus is critical to serving that population of animals who otherwise wouldn't make it out of the shelter system,\" she said. \"Brother Wolf can take in those high medical need animals and now we're going to have the ability with this new campus to give that medical care that they need directly on-site with our own staff.\"\n\nBrother Wolf's previous facility was severely flooded during Tropical Storm Helene, which struck Western North Carolina on September 27, 2024. \"We had 12 feet of water in our building, so we literally lost everything we had,\" Craig said. Since then, the organization has operated as a foster-based rescue. \"We had our foster program back up and running 10 weeks after Helene hit,\" Craig said. \"And since then have pretty much consistently had animals in foster homes.\"\n\nThe funds raised come from individuals and foundations, and Brother Wolf receives no government funding, according to the report. Among the donations was a $1 million grant from The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. \"We did get some other grant funds, but the vast majority of the funds to build this campus are from people who love animals,\" Craig said.\n\n## Other Shelters Building New Facilities\n\nSydney Dogs & Cats Home reopened at a new permanent site in Kurnell, NSW, after a $14.3 million government contribution, [Mirage News](https://www.miragenews.com/sydney-dogs-cats-home-moves-into-kurnell-1769221/) reported on October 29. The 20,000-square-metre facility doubles capacity, enabling care for over 3,000 animals annually and 2,000 adoptions. Joybound People & Pets broke ground on The Liberty Center in Walnut Creek, Calif., on October 21, [FinancialContent Business Page](https://www.financialcontent.com/article/bizwire-2026-10-28-joybound-people-and-pets-breaks-ground-on-the-liberty-center-to-help-keep-bay-area-pet-families-together) reported on October 28. The $16 million facility will expand crisis boarding, veterinary behavioral services, and pet boarding and daycare, with opening anticipated in early 2028; donors have raised over $2.4 million toward the $5 million philanthropic goal.\n\n## Brother Wolf's Construction Timeline\n\nWork on the new facility will start in the spring of 2027, with hopes of moving into the facility in early 2028, Craig said. Brother Wolf still needs to raise around $5 million to complete the campus.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
