Chainlink Debuts CustodySync With Anchorage Digital to Link Custody and DeFi Lending

By ·

Key takeaways

  • Chainlink announced CustodySync on October 26 with Anchorage Digital as its initial partner.
  • CustodySync covers collateral deposit, borrowing, repayment and liquidation across custodians and lending protocols.
  • Anchorage's Atlas Collateral Management product is designed to coordinate with lending protocols in the arrangement.

Chainlink announced CustodySync on October 26, with Anchorage Digital as its initial partner, a service that synchronizes information between qualified custodians and decentralized lending protocols so eligible institutions can borrow against assets while keeping their existing custody arrangements. TradingView carried the announcement.

How CustodySync Links Custody and Lending

Chainlink describes a workflow spanning collateral deposit, borrowing, repayment and liquidation. Anchorage Digital's infrastructure and its Atlas Collateral Management product are designed to coordinate with lending protocols in an arrangement closer to institutional collateral-agency practices.

The design addresses a constraint the announcement sets out: institutions often cannot simply move assets out of approved custody to take part in a DeFi protocol. A data and control layer can let separate systems attest to the same collateral state while defined restrictions on asset movement stay in place.

The announcement states that keeping assets in custody does not by itself remove smart-contract, oracle, liquidation or legal-enforcement risk. Responsibilities between custodian, lender and collateral agent must be unambiguous when prices move quickly or a loan defaults.

Anchorage Digital Bank provides custody for the Mexican peso stablecoin MXNB across six blockchain networks, according to Bitcoin.

Chainlink's Institutional Infrastructure Record

According to akta.pro company records, Chainlink's DTCC selection covers a Collateral AppChain for 24/7 collateral management across $114 trillion in custody, with a planned Q4 2026 production launch involving more than 50 firms including BlackRock, Circle and Fireblocks. The same records show Project Pangea launched in June 2026 with 47 European and South Korean banks managing over $10 trillion in combined assets, using Chainlink CCIP and Data Streams for stablecoin-based FX settlement across a $150 billion trade corridor.

Earlier Chainlink Launches This Fall

Chainlink launched Chainlink 24/7 on October 29, a service providing continuous pricing for tokenized stocks, commodities and other assets during weekends and holidays, with Aave as launch partner, Crypto Briefing reported. On October 28, Chainlink expanded its collaboration with S&P Global Ratings to make Vault Risk Assessment data available onchain via DataLink and the Chainlink Runtime Environment, PR Newswire reported. Further Asset Management, backed by Abu Dhabi's ADQ, adopted Chainlink's Automated Compliance Engine for its tokenized asset compliance platform on October 27, starting in ADGM, TradingView reported.
