- Suno's developer API remains in beta with a sign-in portal at platform.suno.com and a select partner program.

[Suno](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/0000066/suno) released a beta tool called Suno MCP that lets users create songs from inside AI assistants including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, the company announced in its release notes on October 28. [Music Business Worldwide](https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/sunos-new-mcp-tool-lets-users-make-songs-inside-chatgpt-claude-and-gemini-as-its-developer-api-gets-a-sign-in-portal-but-remains-in-beta/) spotted the announcement and a separate sign-in portal for Suno's developer API.

## How Suno MCP Works Inside AI Assistants

Suno wrote in the release notes: "Connect Suno to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and other MCP clients, then create music in the workspace you're already in, no tab-switching needed." The company's MCP page also lists Gemini and the coding tool Cursor among supported apps. MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is an open standard introduced by Anthropic in November 2024 that, according to a Suno help page, "allows AI assistants to connect with external tools and services."

Users can develop lyrics and a musical style in conversation with their AI assistant before Suno generates the track, and can build a full track from an uploaded voice recording or loop. The tool also makes covers, extensions and mashups from songs already in a user's Suno library. Every song is saved to that library and uses credits from the user's Suno plan.

Suno says the MCP works on all of its plans, including the free tier, with beta access through an early-access sign-up. No API key is required; setup involves logging in to a Suno account and granting permission. Suno notes that some AI apps only allow connectors on certain paid plans. Third-party developers previously built unofficial MCP servers for Suno, and Suno MCP is the company's own.

The developer API is a separate product that would let developers build Suno's music generation into their own apps. A portal at platform.[suno.com](https://suno.com) invites visitors to "Sign in to manage your API account" and states: "Generate original songs, covers, and mashups from a single prompt – Suno's music generation engine behind a simple REST API." Suno told MBW earlier this month that the API will not be open to all developers at first and plans to launch with a select set of partners, and said it was still assessing applications it began accepting at the start of the summer. The company did not name any partners with access.

## Suno's Funding and Apple Integration

Suno closed a Series D of more than $400 million led by Bond Capital in June 2026 at a $5.4 billion post-money valuation, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data), more than doubling the prior $2.45 billion mark from November 2025. The same records list a July 2026 Apple iMessage extension that enables 30-second AI song generation within iMessage conversations, alongside CarPlay integration.

## Legal Pressure Before the MCP Release

Reservoir sued Suno in California, alleging the AI firm copied 1,050 of its compositions to train models without permission, Music Business Worldwide reported on October 22, 2026; the complaint seeks up to $186 million in damages. On October 19, 2026, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment filed a motion in Boston federal court seeking documents and testimony from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Suno's lead investor, on legal risks of training data, MBW reported. On October 27, 2026, [PressBee](https://akta.pro/news-signals) reported that Universal and Sony are seeking third-party subpoenas in their lawsuit, with Apple, the Mechanical Licensing Collective, DistroKid and venture investors resisting.

## Jack Brody's Partner Plans

Jack Brody, Suno's Chief Product Officer, revealed in July that the company was exploring a developer API, with a form for developers to express interest. "We plan to start with a curated group of partners so we can develop this thoughtfully, and we're especially interested in applications that unlock experiences generative music makes possible for the first time," Brody wrote in a LinkedIn post at the time.
