The meeting centred on a coordinated approach to help SMEs meet environmental standards, build operational capacity and adopt sustainable business practices.\n\nUnder the programme, GIZ will support businesses through technical assessments, advisory services and assistance in reaching financial institutions for environment-friendly investments. The work also covers identifying the specific needs of businesses and developing practical guidance on environmental compliance.\n\nUqaili said the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) had a broader role than enforcing environmental laws and taking action against violations, and that industrial enterprises needed guidance and facilitation to meet environmental requirements. He said the provincial Environment Department would work with businesses to understand their challenges and identify workable solutions, and that closer coordination between SEPA and GIZ's technical teams would help improve implementation of environmental standards.\n\nBazinova welcomed the department's cooperation and stressed the importance of information-sharing and coordination between technical teams and relevant government agencies. \"Technical assessments, tailored advisory services and access to green financing would be important in helping SMEs strengthen their businesses while meeting international environmental requirements,\" she said.\n\nThe meeting also discussed improving environmental monitoring, training departmental officials and inspectors, strengthening laboratory capacity and promoting cleaner industrial practices. SEPA Director General Dr Ashiq Ali Langa, GIZ technical advisers, environmental adviser Nauman Sheikh and information officer Murad Waheed attended.\n\n## Sindh's Digitised Environmental Processes\n\nUqaili disclosed that around 70 per cent of the department's processes had been digitised. Further reforms were underway to introduce digital systems for geo-tagging environmental inspectors' visits, online payments and the processing of no-objection certificates, he said.\n\n## Earlier GIZ Partnerships This Month\n\nOn October 27, 2026, FarmYield Ghana and GIZ launched the AGROWY project in Bolgatanga, training 40 women in tractor operation and supporting 160 young people and farmers, MyJoyOnline reported. On October 28, 2026, Nahdet El Mahrousa and GIZ graduated 12 green scaleups at the GreenShift Summit in Cairo, providing EGP 57.5 million in investment, according to Wamda.com. Also on October 28, 2026, Kenya and GIZ were finalising implementation agreements for the second phase of the Digital Transformation Centre programme after Treasury feedback, TechTrendsKE reported.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
