Siy-Yap said all of Meralco's debts are peso-denominated. MGEN Renewables Inc., previously SP New Energy Corp. And backed by lawmaker Leandro Leviste, is expected to end 2026 back in the black with a projected net income of P700 million.\n\n## Meralco's Rate and Refund Decisions Before the Results\n\nOn October 28, 2026, BusinessWorld Online reported that Meralco expects the weakening peso to push electricity rates higher, as over 50% of its power sources depend on foreign exchange.
