- The program backs as much as 2 trillion won (USD 1.5 billion) in loans for domestic makers of semiconductor materials, parts and equipment.
- CEO Kwak Noh-jung said the Trinity Fab, an 870 billion won joint project with the government, gives suppliers a one-stop technology validation environment.

SK Hynix and four commercial lenders established a 2 trillion won (USD 1.5 billion) financing program for domestic semiconductor suppliers on October 28, with Korea Trade Insurance Corporation guarantees backing the loans. ## How the SK Hynix Lending Pool Works

[SK Hynix](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/000043y/sk-hynix) and Hana, KB Kookmin, Shinhan and [Woori Bank](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/00032u8/woori-bank) contributed 100 billion won, and [Korea Trade Insurance Corporation](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/00098zj/korea-trade-insurance-corporation) provided credit guarantees worth up to 20 times that sum. The guarantees back as much as 2 trillion won in loans to small and medium-sized vendors of semiconductor materials, parts and equipment. Eligible suppliers gain larger credit facilities at preferential interest rates and reduced guarantee charges, for operating costs, research and facility expansions.

The Industry Ministry called the arrangement the largest trade financing agreement of its kind involving an individual company. Executives, government officials, bank representatives and vendor leaders gathered at the Yongin semiconductor cluster in Gyeonggi Province for a signing event that included the program's initial guarantee.

"Building a robust ecosystem of materials, parts and equipment suppliers is essential to securing Korea's global competitiveness in the semiconductor industry and further strengthening its standing," Chief Executive Officer Kwak Noh-jung said, according to the report.

Before the ceremony, attendees visited the construction site of SK Hynix's first fabrication facility at Yongin and the planned Trinity Fab, an 870 billion won joint project between the company and the government. The Trinity Fab is designed as a testing ground where local vendors evaluate components and tooling under operational manufacturing conditions.

"Through the financing initiative and the one-stop technology validation environment provided by the Trinity Fab, we will work closely with our partners to further solidify our technological leadership in the global market," Kwak said.

Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan said domestic semiconductor manufacturing expansions need to speed up to help manage international memory chip shortages, and that site safety remained essential. "The government will actively support R&D initiatives, a new semiconductor fund and workforce training programs to build a cooperative ecosystem that allows small and midsized companies to share in the benefits of the semiconductor industry's growth," Kim said. Vendor delegates suggested steps to stabilize component procurement lines, boost domestic technical skills and curb reliance on foreign suppliers.

## SK Hynix's Memory Market Position

SK Hynix holds approximately 57-62% of the global high bandwidth memory market and 29% of the global DRAM market as of the first quarter of 2026, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data).
