The Hollywood Reporter first reported the ratification, published by [Yahoo](https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/union-members-radicalmedia-ratify-first-211557362.html). The roughly 50-member bargaining unit at the nonfiction division of [RadicalMedia LLC](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/000a2bz/radicalmedia-llc) voted on the agreement, and the union's council approved the contract on Thursday.\n\n## RadicalMedia Deal Sets Wage Minimums and Health Contributions\n\nThe Writers Guild of America East represents the group, which includes archival producers, story producers, field workers and postproduction workers, among others. The contract establishes wage rate minimums that will rise by two percent in each year of the five-year term. Workers can access the Entertainment Industry Flex Plan, and the employer will offer daily contributions for each employee to the health insurance plan.\n\nThe agreement includes paid holidays, bereavement leave, minimum rest periods and comp days. It also carries a nonfiction-specific provision requiring the company to pay employees if a specific show goes dark with little notice ahead of time. Michael Rauch, the WGA East's vp of film, television and streaming, said in a statement: \"We're thrilled RadicalMedia workers secured their first union contract.\" Rauch added that the agreement builds on protections nonfiction production workers have gone without, including rest periods, pay when production is paused on short notice, paid holidays and health care contributions.\n\nThe union's bargaining committee called the deal an \"important milestone\" in the push to organize more nonfiction work. The committee said it was \"especially proud to have won participation in the Flex Plan, as health insurance is often out of reach for those of us working in a freelance environment.\" The WGA East currently has bargaining units at Jigsaw Productions, Story Syndicate, Vox Entertainment, McGee Media, Sharp, Lucky 8, A+E Factual Studios and NBC News Service.\n\n## RadicalMedia's Documentary Credits Behind the Contract\n\nRadicalMedia is a New York-based production company founded in 1993 with 251-500 employees, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data). The same records list Jon Kamen as chairman and CEO and Frank Scherma as president. Its nonfiction work includes the Oscar-winning documentary Summer of Soul, released in 2022, and the Conversations with a Killer franchise. The company released \"Earth, Wind & Fire,\" directed by Questlove, as the opening night film of the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival on HBO in April 2026. RadicalMedia's content has been distributed across Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV+, Peacock, STARZ/Roku, MAX and History Channel, according to the same records.\n\nThe WGA East and West issued a joint statement on October 24, 2026, defending the documentary \"Musk\" and alleging an overt censorship campaign by tech platforms, including TikTok banning its ads, Yahoo reported.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
