The Metro Nashville Airport Authority approved a 40-year, $34 million deal with the company on February 18, and the contract remains unsigned.\n\n## Inside the Music City Loop Station Plan\n\nThe station would occupy the ground floor of the terminal where taxis and limousines currently pick up passengers. \"They're paying the premium,\" MNAA President and CEO Doug Kreulen said at an October board meeting. \"Basically, when they pick up or drop off, you're 22 feet from the front door if you're The Boring Company, whereas if you're Uber and Lyft, you're about 600 feet from the door.\"\n\nThe airport station would connect to a set of 9.5-mile tunnels running from BNA to downtown Nashville. Dozens of Teslas would carry passengers from the airport to at least 20 other stations, including Music City Center, the JW Marriott, and three Church Street buildings from developer and airport commissioner Tony Giarratana, according to stated company plans. The tunnels would run under 8th Avenue South and follow Murfreesboro Pike to the airport, then turn along Donelson Pike and bring Teslas above ground on Airport Service Road for a short stretch before the station.\n\n[The Boring Company](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/000039i/the-boring-company), founded by Elon Musk in 2017, built test tunnels and a 1.7-mile Las Vegas tunnel that opened in 2021, according to Wikipedia. By late 2026 it had 14 stations and had carried over 4 million passengers, with a $3 billion Series D in September 2026. The Nashville station would be its first airport station; in Nevada, the company is still in talks with Harry Reid International Airport to connect its Vegas Loop to airport property, though it started above-ground shuttle service to the Las Vegas airport in late 2025.\n\n## Nashville Airport's Ground Transport Fees\n\nAccording to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data), Nashville International Airport handles over 24.8 million passengers annually, about 2.5 million each month, and is executing a $3 billion New Horizon expansion program through 2029. The airport charges transportation services for doing business there, with an average of about 73,000 passengers traveling through BNA daily. Taxis pay $4 per departure, Uber and Lyft pay $12 per ride, and rental car companies' daily rates recently rose from $10 to $12 per car. The Boring Company won't be an exception: the February deal included an annual licensing fee starting at $300,000 and a $5 per car pickup and dropoff fee.\n\n## Boring Machines Already Tunneling in Nashville\n\nThe Boring Company launched two boring machines from a state-owned lot on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard, and they are actively tunneling under Nashville. A third tunnel-boring machine is preparing to launch from Lafayette Street near the Korean Veterans Boulevard roundabout, according to a Metro permit. \"Station design and permitting are still underway,\" The Boring Company said in its October 1 blog post. The project has fallen behind its initial fall 2026 launch target; Boring officials now aim to open Music City Loop in the first quarter of 2027.\n\n## What Comes Next for the Loop\n\nKreulen said the airport would move its black cars and taxis to another location, probably on the northern side of the terminal, if the deal is signed. \"We're still working on that,\" he said at the October meeting.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
