Egypt's Nahdet El Mahrousa and Germany's GIZ graduated 12 green businesses from the GreenShift accelerator, which provided a combined EGP 57.5 million in investment to support their growth and production capacity. [Wamda.com](http://wamda.com/2026/10/nahdet-el-mahrousa-giz-support-12-green-scaleups-egp-57-5-million) reported the graduation took place at the GreenShift Summit in Cairo on October 27, 2026.

## How the GreenShift Program Was Built

GreenShift is implemented by [Nahdet El Mahrousa](https://www.nahdetelmahrousa.org) in partnership with [GIZ](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/0006duz/giz-gesellschaft-fur-internationale-zusammenarbeit) and co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Government. The program supports green businesses in commercialising sustainable solutions and scaling their operations.

The 12 graduating businesses operate across climatetech, circular economy, recycling, sustainable materials and waste management. They include TileGreen Tech, Tilestic, [Green Cycle](https://akta.pro/company-data), EGYMAG Biotechnology, Extractor Co., Mycelium, Up-Fuse, ZEE, Yadawee, Mrkoon, PLANQ Electronics and VeryNile.

GreenShift received 1,353 applications and trained 46 fellows through approximately 160 hours of training and consultations. The program provided EGP 1.3 million in productive assets to 18 fellows and supported eight of the 12 funded businesses in completing licensing and formalisation procedures.

Mostafa Ashraf, private sector advisor at GIZ, said the high upfront cost of equipment is one of the biggest challenges these businesses face. "The GreenShift program helps address this challenge by financing machinery, enabling companies to continue developing their operations and improve their production processes," he said.

Islam Salah, founder of PLANQ Electronics, said the funding mattered alongside the expertise and guidance the companies received. "The program gave us the confidence to pursue opportunities we might not have explored otherwise," he said.

Jackie Kameel, Managing Director of Nahdet El Mahrousa, said public-private partnerships are at the heart of Egypt's sustainability agenda. "Together with our public- and private-sector partners, we aim to nurture the next generation of climate entrepreneurs and accelerate the adoption of sustainable solutions across industries," Kameel said.
