Lion Rock Resources appointed Terrence (Terry) Lyons, ICD.D, to its board as an independent director, the company announced on October 28, 2026. Aktien published the announcement.
Terry Lyons' Mining and Board Record
Lyons received the Inco Medal from the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum in 2007 for meritorious contributions to the mining industry. His board roles cover both sides of Lion Rock Resources' Volney critical minerals and gold project in South Dakota's Black Hills. He was chair of Pacific Wildcat Resources Corp., a tantalum and rare earth mining company, and chaired Northgate Minerals Corp., now part of Alamos Gold. He was also vice-chair of Battle Mountain Gold Company, which Newmont acquired.
Lyons joined Versatile Corporation in 1976 and, as senior vice-president from 1986, presided over its restructuring; the company is now B.C. Pacific Capital Corporation, wholly owned by Brookfield. He spent 17 years with the firm, including as a managing partner responsible for merchant banking and restructuring in the natural resource sector, retiring in 2004 and remaining a consultant until 2014. He currently serves on the boards of Canaccord Genuity Group Inc. as chair of the audit and risk committees, Martinrea International Inc. as chair of the audit committee, and Badlands Resources Inc., and is chair of private company Waterotor Technologies Inc.
Nav Dhaliwal, executive chairman, said: "Terry's appointment further strengthens the Lion Rock team. As the former Chair of a tantalum producer, he brings direct experience in a mineral at the core of Volney, and his perspective will be valuable at a time when the US is focused on securing a domestic supply of critical minerals. We are very pleased to welcome him to the Board."
Volney Permits and Funding on Record
According to akta.pro company records, Lion Rock received Conditional Use Permit approval from Lawrence County, South Dakota, in June 2026 for pegmatite mining at the Volney Project, positioning it to pursue a state mining license for lithium, tin and tantalum offtake. The same records show the company closed a $2.16 million private placement of units in April 2026 to fund the Volney Lithium Project and general working capital. Lion Rock attended the Fastmarkets Global Lithium, Battery and Critical Materials Conference in Las Vegas from June 22 to 25, 2026, to meet prospective offtake partners, end-users and investors.
Volney Exploration Before the Appointment
In August 2026, Lion Rock completed a property-wide surface exploration program at Volney, mapping and sampling visible tin and tantalum mineralization extending about 300 metres beyond previously reported zones, Yahoo reported. In June 2026, the company began metallurgical and mineralogical testing at the past-producing project, evaluating concentrate grades and recovery rates for lithium, tin and tantalum using bulk samples from pegmatite surfaces, according to Newsfile.
