Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical said third-quarter 2026 net profit rose 15% from a year earlier, helped by one-off gains, while revenue edged up 1.4% to 10 billion yuan, or about $1.5 billion. Forbes reported the results on October 27, 2026.
Fosun Pharma's One-Off Gains and Profit Drag
Without the bump from extraordinary items, earnings would have slid 8% from a year earlier, according to the report. Profit was hurt in part by a decline in contributions from out-licensing projects and a decrease in income from associates and joint ventures, the company said.
Fosun Pharma is the main pharmaceutical arm of China's Fosun International, an investment group led by billionaire Guo Guangchang. The company was founded in 1994 and describes itself as a global pharmaceutical and healthcare group developing innovative drugs, biosimilars, cell therapies and diagnostics for oncology, infectious disease and rare diseases across more than 90 countries.
Fosun Pharma has said it plans to list Fosun Adgenvax, its 70%-owned vaccine business unit, on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In the first three quarters of 2026, the company spent 5.2 billion yuan on research and development, an increase of 31% from a year earlier.
Chairman Chen Yuqing said in an interview earlier this year that China had moved from a follower to a leader in global pharma. Chen said the total value of out-licensing deals for China-originated innovative drugs exceeded $13 billion in 2025, "underscoring the global recognition of China's R&D capabilities."

In April 2026 the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Abu Dhabi-based Arcera Life Sciences for long-term collaboration in licensing, frontier technology incubation and neuroscience innovation.
