The testing and certification group set out the requirements in its SafeGuardS 139.26 bulletin, [PRLog](https://www.prlog.org/13179408-sgs-highlights-chinas-new-standard-for-washable-thin-quilts.html) reported on October 27, 2026.\n\n## What FZ/T 62053-2025 Requires of Quilt Makers\n\nUnder the standard, a washable thin quilt is a lightweight product made by sewing two layers of fabric around filling material, with a filling mass per unit area of not more than 150 g/m2. General safety technical requirements follow Category B specifications in Chinese standard GB 18401, while children's products fall under the Category B requirements of GB 31701. Filling material fibers must comply with GB 18383.\n\nFZ/T 62053-2025 also sets requirements for fiber content, filling mass deviation, dimensional stability after washing, pilling resistance, fiber leakage resistance and color fastness. Testing and quality control specifications cover a range of performance and quality requirements. SGS said the requirements are intended to increase the safety, durability and quality of washable thin quilts, and will affect manufacturers, brand owners, importers, distributors, testing laboratories and quality control personnel producing, testing, certifying and selling the products in China.\n\n## SGS's Testing and Certification Footprint\n\nSGS is a testing, inspection and certification company founded in 1878 and headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, serving clients in agriculture, food, pharma, cosmetics, mining, oil and gas, and consumer products, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data). The same records list more than 2,500 laboratories and business facilities across 115 countries and a workforce of more than 100,000. SGS reported third-quarter sales of 1.98 billion Swiss francs, up 14.6% year-over-year, Reuters reported on October 23, 2026.\n\n## Earlier Standards SGS Has Covered\n\nSGS detailed China's FZ/T 64125-2026 standard for disposable underwear in an October 2026 PRLog report; the standard takes effect November 1, 2026 and excludes infant products under 36 months. In an October 2026 report, PRLog said SGS covered UK regulations issued in September 2026 authorizing cobalt for three specified toy applications in Great Britain, effective March 8, 2027. PRLog also reported in October 2026 that SGS covered Health Canada's September 18, 2026 update adding button and coin battery products and packaging to its CCPSA general prohibitions.\n\n## Where to Find the Full Standard Details\n\nSGS directed stakeholders to the original SafeGuardS 139.26 for further information on the key requirements of FZ/T 62053-2025, and published the full analysis of the standard on its [website](http://www.sgs.com).\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
