[Autocar Professional](https://www.autocarpro.in/news/bajaj-auto-targets-80000-monthly-chetak-units-by-q4-eyes-sixth-manufacturing-plant-135512) reported the target after the company's Q2 FY27 results. Bajaj Auto is an Indian maker of motorcycles, electric scooters and three-wheelers, founded in 1945 and headquartered in Pune.\n\n## Bajaj Restores Chetak Output to Full Capacity\n\nSharma said Bajaj had restored Chetak production to full capacity after earlier supply chain disruptions, but demand still exceeds available production. The company had previously built only around 40,000 scooters a month against capacity of 60,000 units, a shortfall of approximately 20,000 units. \"But now, we are back and we are making, going 100% on the capacity. However, the requirement is more than this,\" Sharma said.\n\nFurther debottlenecking during the January-March 2027 quarter should bring Chetak production close to 80,000 units a month, he said. Sharma said Bajaj also faces constraints in premium motorcycles and internal combustion engines, prompting it to explore a new facility. \"We are in serious discussion with a few states and assessing where we should base our new sixth plant,\" he said, adding that a cross-functional team is evaluating locations and proposals across India. The company has not disclosed the proposed investment, capacity, location or timeline for the plant.\n\nSharma said electric vehicles account for around 25% of scooter sales nationally and penetration could reach 50% in three to five years. He cited electric scooter shares of around 40% in Odisha, 30-35% in Maharashtra and 10-12% in Gujarat. Bajaj Auto reported standalone revenue from operations of Rs 20,003 crore in Q2 FY27, up 34% year on year, and net profit of Rs 3,354 crore, up 35%, with an EBITDA margin of 20.9% against 20.5% a year earlier.\n\n## Bajaj's Chetak Revenue and Electric Vehicle Scale\n\nAccording to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data), Bajaj Auto appointed Rakesh Sharma as Joint Managing Director at its 19th AGM in July 2026, formalizing a leadership expansion while Rajiv Bajaj stepped down from the Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance boards to focus on automotive operations and KTM integration. The same records describe Bajaj Auto as shipping approximately 250,000 vehicles monthly to 108 countries.\n\n## Earlier Bajaj Auto Developments\n\nOn October 27, 2026, Autocar Professional reported that Bajaj Auto warned rural stress from drought, inflation and tighter lending could deepen entry-level motorcycle demand weakness in Q4 FY27. CNBC TV18 reported the same day that Bajaj Auto crossed ₹20,000 crore in revenue in its Q2 results. On October 23, 2026, Autocar Professional reported that Bajaj Auto's H1 FY2027 motorcycle sales fell 7% to 932,981 units, as India's motorcycle makers sold 6.92 million units, up 10% year on year.\n\n## Bajaj's Chetak Portfolio Expansion\n\nBajaj Auto plans to expand its Chetak portfolio over the next six months to address more customer requirements as electric scooter adoption increases, Sharma said.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
