[The Times of India](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/legal/news/man-bought-samsung-z-flip6-for-rs-1-1-lakh-but-screen-went-black-during-warranty-consumer-commission-finds-deficiency-in-service-orders-samsung-to-pay-rs-98000-plus-9-interest-on-refund/articleshow/135204388.cms) reported that the Rohtak District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission found deficiency in service on the company's part.\n\n## The Rohtak Commission's Warranty Finding\n\nVicky Kapoor bought the Samsung Z Flip6 from Guru Simran Mobile in Rohtak on December 18, 2024, for Rs 1,09,999, according to the commission order. The phone began heating up and dropping network during calls within days, and Kapoor approached a Samsung authorised service centre in the last week of January 2025, where a technician reset the device without preparing a job sheet. The same problems returned in March 2025 and the phone was reset again, which Kapoor said caused him to lose his data.\n\nOn July 28, 2025, the phone heated up during a call and its screen went black. The job sheet issued that day recorded the warranty status as \"full warranty\" and described the problem as \"display not working, black display\". Kapoor was told the next day that the repair would cost Rs 45,000, and the service centre refused to repair the phone under warranty.\n\nSamsung disputed the claim, contending the phone had dents on its hinge and scratches on its screen that damaged the display and made it ineligible for warranty repairs. The bench of president Nagender Singh Kadian and members Dr Tripti Pannu and Dr Vijender Singh examined the purchase invoice, service records and photographs, and noted that a subsequent job sheet dated August 26, 2025, classified the phone as out of warranty.\n\n\"The opposite parties have not placed on record any cogent and reliable evidence to explain the change in the warranty status from 'Full Warranty' to 'Out of Warranty',\" the bench said. It held that the photographs Samsung submitted were insufficient to establish that the customer caused the damage, and directed the refund after deducting 20 percent depreciation because the phone had been used for more than seven months. Samsung was ordered to comply within 30 days of receiving a copy of the order.\n\n## Samsung India's Wider Business\n\nSamsung India Electronics is the wholly-owned Indian subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, selling and supporting Galaxy smartphones, TVs, home appliances, wearables, laptops and B2B IoT and security platforms through omnichannel retail and quick-commerce, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data). The subsidiary was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Gurugram, with J.B. Park as Southwest Asia CEO and Aditya Babbar as Senior Vice President and Head of Mobile Business. The same records list a headcount range of more than 10,000 and a valuation estimate of $10 billion to $25 billion.\n\n## Earlier Samsung India Developments\n\nSamsung India Electronics reported a 36 percent profit drop to ₹7,228 crore for FY26, while revenue rose 1.2 percent to ₹1.12 trillion, Business Standard reported in September 2026. The Andhra Pradesh High Court quashed legal proceedings against Samsung India Electronics over the non-disclosure of mobile phone screen sizes on packaging, The Indian Express reported in August 2026. JOJO Ltd signed an agreement with Samsung India Electronics to distribute its JOJO TV channel on Samsung TV Plus in India, disclosing the deal to the BSE on September 17, 2026, ScanX reported.\n\n## Next Steps for Samsung India\n\nSamsung India Electronics has 30 days from receipt of the order to comply with the refund, interest, compensation and litigation costs.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
