CNBC TV18 reported that he cited suspended production of over 100 dairy products and declining milk procurement, which fell from 41 lakh litres to 28 lakh litres per day. The details were reported by [CNBCTV18](https://www.cnbctv18.com/india/pmk-demands-expert-panel-to-fix-state-owned-aavin-crisis-20018721.htm).\n\n## Anbumani Ramadoss's Demands for Aavin\n\nRamadoss said Aavin has suspended production of over 100 dairy products, including butter, paneer and milk powder, which he said enjoy immense demand among consumers. He called the situation \"deeply shocking.\" Out of more than 230 dairy products previously produced and marketed by Aavin, production of paneer, butter, various milkshakes, milk powder, dry fruit powders, cookies and chocolates has been suspended in recent times, he said.\n\nCiting a media report, the PMK leader said, \"It is condemnable that Aavin, a premier state-owned cooperative enterprise that ought to be built up to compete with the likes of Amul, is being allowed to deteriorate to this extent.\" He said Aavin currently fulfils only 15 per cent to 16 per cent of the state's total milk requirement and has completely stopped manufacturing several value-added products.\n\nRamadoss said Aavin's daily milk procurement touched a peak of 41 lakh litres in 2021, then gradually declined to 28 lakh litres per day by August this year. Following an increase in procurement prices from Rs 38 to Rs 44 per litre, procurement recently recovered to around 32 lakh litres per day, he said. He said it remains unclear what operational bottlenecks prevent Aavin from meeting public demand for butter, paneer, ghee and flavoured cold beverages.\n\n\"Therefore, the state government must immediately set up an expert committee to analyse Aavin's current operations and recommend steps to ensure its financial health and profitability,\" he said. In the interim, he said Aavin must ensure that all varieties of milk, paneer, butter, ghee and other dairy products are produced and distributed to consumers at full capacity.\n\n## Aavin's Recent Plant and Supply Moves\n\nOn October 10, 2026, the Tiruchi District Milk Producers' Cooperative Union's ice cream plant at Kottapattu began production after eight months of idleness, The Hindu reported. Built for ₹21.57 crore, it produces 6,000 litres of ice cream daily and 10,000 litres of curd and lassi.\n\nOn October 8, 2026, the Madras High Court ordered Aavin to install more milk vending machines in Nilgiris and Kodaikanal after demand doubled, The Times of India reported. On October 7, 2026, Aavin Madurai was supplying over 2 lakh litres daily, up from earlier shortages, after curbing retail hoarding and improving procurement, The Times of India reported.\n\n## Aavin's Next Steps\n\nOn October 7, 2026, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay inaugurated a Rs 2.23-crore Aavin laboratory in Chennai, India.com reported. The Times of India reported the same day that he inaugurated a Rs 2.2 crore central lab building at the Madhavaram Aavin dairy complex, which produces 4-4.5 lakh litres daily, with packaged milk sent via 45 routes.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
