Ramsey Financial Group named Meagan Murphy Crawford a partner, promoting her from principal to lead the firm's new line of work on the space capital stack. EIN Presswire carried the announcement on October 23, 2026. Crawford will direct the five-layer structure of financial solutions for the space industry.
Crawford's Promotion and the Space Capital Stack Mandate
Leo B. Womack, Founder and Chairman of Ramsey Financial Group, said Crawford has helped administer the firm's investments across space, agriculture technology, and artificial intelligence over the last decade. "Naming her a partner adds her as a deciding member on the full range of our investment activity, which also includes energy, life sciences, and real estate," Womack said. "It also aligns the entire group with her space capital stack mandate."
The space capital stack is the five-layer structure set out in "Beyond Venture: Space Needs a Complete Capital Stack," a white paper the firm sponsored earlier this year. The paper argues the industry's bottleneck has moved from the launchpad to the balance sheet. Venture equity is the only instrument most space companies can reach, so founders and their earliest backers are diluted through successive rounds long after technical risk has fallen, operators self-insure whole constellations, and startups become accidental real-estate developers around the launch corridor.
The five layers are data and intelligence through Off Earth Data, early-stage equity through Starchart Ventures, private credit through a vehicle in formation for 2027, infrastructure development through SpacePort Fund, and insurance through Alera Group Emerging Industries. Off Earth Data tracked 3,268 space companies as of October 23, 2026.
"Every round of venture capital a company raises costs the founders and early investors significant equity," Crawford said. "In other industries, credit, infrastructure development, and insurance exist so lower-cost capital can arrive as the risk falls, and the company reaches revenue and exit with more early equity intact for those who took the highest risks."
L. Barton Womack, Managing Director, said the family has put its own capital behind frontier industries since before there was a space economy to invest in. Crawford remains a principal of SpacePort Fund, founder of Starchart Ventures, and an investor in and advisor to Off Earth Data.
Ramsey Financial Group's Investment Record
According to akta.pro company records, Ramsey Financial Group is a Houston-based private single-family office managing more than $100 million in assets under management since 1992, with nine active portfolio projects across seven verticals and five integrated capital stack layers. The same records show the firm launched Karman Line / SpacePort Fund I in 2025, a $50 million workforce housing vehicle focused on Cape Canaveral and US spaceports, anchored by a $30 million committed investor. In 2021 the firm launched AXE H2O, a 150-million-gallon-per-day Gulf seawater desalination plant, structured as a $15 million raise for 15 percent equity.
Private Credit Vehicle Planned for 2027
The private credit layer of the space capital stack is a vehicle in formation for 2027, according to the white paper. The firm's website publishes the full five-layer structure at meagancrawford.com.
