Lucknow Municipal Corporation has allocated ₹47.65 crore for road and drain repair and construction and ₹25 crore for scientific waste disposal from a ₹100 crore leftover infrastructure fund. The Times of India reported the civic spending plan on October 24, 2026.

How the ₹100 Crore Fund Is Split

Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said roads, drains and waste disposal are priorities for the city, and hence they have been allocated most of the money. The waste disposal allocation will fund another waste processing plant in Shivri for the scientific disposal of garbage into manure. Lucknow generates 2,000 metric tonnes of garbage daily, while the existing Shivri plant has a capacity of 1,700 metric tonnes, and the new plant will fill the gap in processing capacity.

The corporation will also set up automatic and semi-automatic material recovery facilities where segregation of waste is done before sending it to the Shivri plant. The plan includes ₹2.25 crore for sculptures at four intersections: National PG College, Pasi Qila, Kathuta crossing and Gole Market. It also includes ₹30.8 lakh for Victoria-style streetlights near Hanuman Setu temple and along Residency Road.

Water supply proposals cover repairs to overhead tanks in Rajajipuram and Aliganj, pump replacements at the Aishbagh water treatment plant and Gau Ghat pumping station, and ₹3.5 crore for new pumps at the Jankipuram flood pumping station. The corporation also plans to purchase water tankers, fogging machines, excavators, sprinklers, tractors, motorboats and pumps, with ₹2.17 crore proposed for 50 water tankers and ₹1.2 crore for fogging machines.

Lucknow Nagar Nigam's Waste and Digital Records

According to akta.pro company records, Lucknow Nagar Nigam entered into a solid waste management partnership with Ecogreen under the Anubandh initiative for door-to-door waste collection and management operations. The same records show a technology partnership with EverythingCivic for a citizen complaint management system, with the corporation using the EverythingCivic platform for complaint registration and status tracking through its official website integration. Lucknow Nagar Nigam also participated in the AMRUT program, implementing property tax reforms, online biometric attendance, geo-tagging and digital governance improvements.

Earlier Civic Works Across Lucknow

In September 2026, Lucknow marked the prime minister's birthday with a citywide cleanliness drive across all 110 wards of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, inaugurated by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, according to The Times of India. In the same month, a 10-foot-deep sinkhole opened on a road near former UP deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma's Lucknow residence, injuring a motorcyclist, and the corporation said drain seepage caused the collapse. In August 2026, the corporation began bulldozer action to remove illegal encroachments including lawyers' chambers, food stalls, drains, roads and footpaths, India Today reported.

What Comes Next for the Shivri Plant

The new waste processing plant in Shivri is planned to handle the gap between the city's daily garbage generation and the existing plant's capacity.
