Roundstone's Distribution to July 2025 Captive Participants
Roundstone Insurance was founded in 2005 to give small and mid-sized businesses a way to fund employee healthcare benefits, and it annually covers more than $1.5 billion in health insurance claims for the 1,000+ employers that self-fund through its group medical captive.
Founder and President Michael Schroeder said, "Roundstone is focused on providing affordable, high-quality healthcare for all and we are proud to announce a distribution to our captive participants." Schroeder added that returning savings where they belong is a key part of the company's effort.
According to a recent Mercer study cited in the announcement, the industry average for per-employee-per-year healthcare costs is $17,369. Roundstone's average per-employee-per-year cost is $12,553, a savings of nearly $5,000 per employee. Roundstone's captive participants also experienced an average renewal increase of 7%.
The company said those results come from its approach to self-funded healthcare, which combines data transparency, proactive cost containment strategies and customized plan design.
