NorthStar Anesthesia Adds 17 ASC Partnerships in 2026 as Stipends Hit 80% of Network

NorthStar Anesthesia has added 17 new ambulatory surgery center partnerships nationwide to date in 2026, the company said on October 23, 2026, citing rising costs and staffing challenges at surgery centers. The Irving, Texas-based anesthesia management company announced the total in a PR Newswire release.

NorthStar's ASC Model and the 17 New Partnerships

NorthStar said its dedicated ASC model is designed to reduce preventable case cancellations, improve surgical throughput, and help centers use existing operating room capacity. The company said it addresses cancellations through ASC-specific pre-anesthesia testing guidelines and standardized clinical protocols intended to identify potential issues earlier and support consistent decision-making.

"The challenge for ASCs today isn't simply finding anesthesia coverage. It's ensuring that coverage translates into reliable surgical capacity," said Cindy Myers, Vice President of ASC Operations at NorthStar Anesthesia. "When cases are cancelled unnecessarily or operating rooms aren't running as planned, the impact extends well beyond the anesthesia department."

Gajan Mahendran, MD, Vice President of Physician Services, said a consistent, evidence-based approach to preoperative assessment helps identify risks earlier and determine which patients are appropriate for the ASC setting. NorthStar said it also works with partners on staffing models that reflect each facility's case mix, surgical volume, and operating requirements.

NorthStar's 2026 ASC partnerships include CarePlex Orthopaedic Ambulatory Surgery Center in Norfolk, Virginia; Stony Point Surgery Center and West Creek Surgery Center, both part of MedRVA Healthcare in Richmond, Virginia; an orthopedic surgery center in Wisconsin; Eye Surgery Center of Homewood in Homewood, Alabama; and The Toledo Clinic ASC in Toledo, Ohio. The company said it combines local clinical leadership with national recruiting, dedicated ASC operations expertise, and established quality guidelines.

NorthStar's Virginia and Kansas ASC Additions

According to akta.pro company records, NorthStar announced three new ASC partnerships in Virginia in May 2026: Careplex Orthopaedic ASC in Hampton Roads, MedRVA Healthcare's Stony Point and West Creek Surgery Centers in Richmond, and a new otolaryngology center in Northern Virginia. The same records show a March 2026 partnership with a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center in Overland Park, Kansas, to deliver clinician-led anesthesia services. In July 2026, NorthStar partnered with implementation firm Synaptiq to build a custom scheduling app using Databricks Apps for a workforce of roughly 3,000 clinicians across more than 25 U.S. states, according to Databricks.
