The company said the upgrade can reduce engineering and commissioning effort by up to 75% while supporting throughput of up to 1,300 items per hour per cell and picking accuracy targets above 99.5%. [of Supply Chain News](https://supplychaindigital.com/news/abb-brings-physical-ai-to-fashion-logistics) reported the launch on October 23, 2026.\n\n## How the Fashion Inductor Upgrade Works\n\nABB Robotics built the combined solution for system integrators deploying, scaling and optimising robotic sorting applications. AI Robot Trainer adds pre-trained fashion-specific vision models, application tools and rapid retraining capabilities, so integrators can adapt applications as product ranges and operating requirements change without specialist AI expertise. The upgraded module uses application-specific vision technology, AI-powered Automatic Path Planning and ABB's robot-control platforms.\n\nA new digital twin replicates the module software and connects the Application Controller Platform, Automatic Path Planning, AI Robot Trainer and RobotStudio. RobotStudio provides the virtual environment for design, simulation and validation, while the OmniCore robot controller acts as the execution layer during production. ABB describes the system as a lifecycle-managed physical AI solution rather than a one-time automation deployment, with models developed, deployed, monitored and improved as the robotic cell encounters new products and conditions.\n\n\"Fashion Inductor is the first step in our broader rollout of vision-based Physical AI, as we continue developing robots that are increasingly autonomous, versatile and able to adapt to the world around them,\" said Craig McDonnell, Managing Director, Business Line Industries, ABB Robotics.\n\n## Earlier ABB Robotics Launches\n\nABB Robotics introduced the IRB 1700 and IRB 1700ID compact robots for precision manufacturing, offering up to 20% shorter cycle times and 15% lower power consumption, with payloads from 6 to 12 kg and path repeatability of 0.03 mm, Robotics & Automation News reported in October 2026. Unite.AI reported in October 2026 that ABB Robotics launched AI Robot Trainer in its Fashion Inductor module on October 15, 2026. Eleconomista reported in October 2026 that ABB Robotics will hire 185 people at a new 15,000-square-metre centre in Sabadell, relocating production from Sant Quirze del Vallès.\n\n## Robotics Peers Launch Their Own Tools\n\nNvidia pledged $10 billion to boost Europe's industrial robotics sector and launched DSX POD data center modules to cut factory setup from six months to two weeks, [Whalesbook](https://www.whalesbook.com/news/English/technology/Nvidia-Commits-dollar10-Billion-to-European-Robotics-Drive/6ad90d1279a16deaeaf94a9e) reported on October 21, 2026. Hirebotics launched Smart Teach for its Cobot Painter, letting operators teach cobots by moving an iPhone around a workpiece to capture positions and orientations, [FinancialContent Business Page](https://www.financialcontent.com/article/bizwire-2026-10-21-hirebotics-turns-iphones-into-spatial-teaching-tools-for-cobot-painter) reported on October 21, 2026.\n\n## ABB's Physical AI Roadmap\n\nABB says the same AI Robot Trainer-powered approach will expand across additional vision-based applications through the first quarter of 2027. The company links the development to its work on increasingly autonomous and versatile robotics, referred to as AVR.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
