Safaricom is promoting a 40 Mbps business fibre package at KSh 3,499 per month for small businesses that need internet for digital payments, cloud applications and daily operations. The package, an upgrade from 15 Mbps advertised as 2.5 times faster, includes built-in cybersecurity and dedicated business support available around the clock, TechTrendsKE reported on October 22, 2026.

Safaricom's 40 Mbps Package and How to Sign Up

The offer forms part of Safaricom Business's effort to serve micro, small and medium-sized enterprises with connectivity and related digital services. Customers can access the package through the MySafaricom app or by dialling *400#, and support runs through the 2222 line.

Felix Kariuki, Safaricom's Fixed Data Product Manager, said businesses should select internet packages based on their workloads, the number of connected devices and the applications they use rather than price or advertised speed alone. "Businesses should consider how many people will use the connection and what they intend to do online before choosing a package," Kariuki said.

Kariuki pointed to cloud-based point-of-sale systems, human resource applications and online collaboration tools as services that let businesses operate without the same level of physical IT infrastructure traditionally required. He described prepaid options for customers who prefer to pay when they need the service, alongside postpaid arrangements for businesses with more predictable cash flow.

Kenya's Fixed Broadband Growth

Communications Authority figures reported by TechTrendsKE showed that fixed internet subscriptions reached 2.84 million by June 2026, a 32.4% year-on-year increase. Fibre subscriptions rose 29.7% to 1.57 million over the same period. The figures cover the wider fixed-internet market rather than business connections alone.

Safaricom's Earlier Enterprise Moves

Safaricom launched a managed SD-WAN service powered by Huawei in October 2026, targeting multi-site businesses with entry-level branch packages starting at KSh12,000 per month, TechTrendsKE reported. The company convened its fourth cybersecurity summit in October 2026, bringing together enterprise and technology leaders to discuss responsible AI adoption and national cyber resilience, Telecompaper reported. Richard Muthua joined Safaricom PLC as Head of Cloud, Cyber Security and IoT in October 2026, TechTrendsKE reported.
