Metal Works of High Point announced an expansion on October 22, 2026, adding a 60,000-square-foot automated manufacturing facility on Prospect Street in south High Point. The maker of metal components for industries including construction equipment and power generation expects to create approximately 10 to 15 new positions as production ramps up, according to Yahoo.

Metal Works of High Point's Prospect Street Facility

Jonathan Hall, president and owner of Metal Works of High Point, said the Prospect Street site is being developed as a highly automated production center that will give the company significantly more capacity. "We also expect to create approximately 10 to 15 new positions as production ramps up," Hall said, "including positions in skilled manufacturing, welding, equipment operation, quality, material handling, shipping and production support. The company expects employment needs to continue growing as additional production is brought into the facility."

The company's existing manufacturing facilities at 918 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and 1245 Hickory Chapel Road will continue operating alongside the new location, Hall said. The Prospect Street site will feature new laser cutting machinery, automated material handling, robotic bending and robotic welding technology, as well as expanded welding, material staging and shipping capacity.

Hall said the expansion reflects a broader strategy underway for several years of adopting more advanced manufacturing operations. The strategy is designed to allow Metal Works to support complex custom fabrication work and higher-volume recurring production while maintaining the responsiveness that has traditionally differentiated the company, he said.

Elizabeth Hall, the company's vice president, said, "The part I'm most proud of is what this creates for our people. There are employees who have been with Metal Works through many stages of our growth, and they are a huge reason we have the opportunity to make this investment today. We want this expansion to create new opportunities for them, new skills they can learn and new careers for people who join us in the years ahead."
