MediCard Philippines launched an upgraded MediGo app and expects its healthcare claims cost per member to grow by only single digits this year, the company said. The Inquirer reported the launch and the claims outlook on October 22, 2026. The app offers simplified access to healthcare services, faster response times and improved tracking, and was rebuilt from scratch to improve its speed, architecture and overall user experience.
MediCard Rebuilds MediGo Around Member Feedback
MediCard CEO Julian Mengual said the company redesigned the app around what members asked for. "We listened closely to member feedback and redesigned the experience around their needs. Beyond introducing new capabilities, we focused on creating a more seamless journey that allows our members to rely on their preferred services that are easier to access, simpler to navigate and more intuitive to use," Mengual said.
Asked at a media briefing whether greater accessibility could raise medical costs as members use healthcare services more often, Mengual said accessibility does not necessarily translate to higher expenses. "Accessibility means that people get treatment at the right time in the right place and much quicker. In the long term, it actually reduces medical costs," he said. Mengual said wider access to healthcare lets members undergo preventive care and address health conditions earlier, rather than letting them progress into more serious conditions that could require more expensive treatment.
"We're seeing that our claims costs aren't growing significantly because we're doing a really good job of working and partnering with our members to support their needs, to make sure they've got access to care, but also that they're getting care earlier, which means they're getting much more support," Mengual said.
MediCard recorded P4.88 billion in benefits and claims in 2025 and has more than 1 million members. Mengual said the company aims to onboard all of its members onto the MediGo app, with plans to deploy new solutions and services on the platform every month. The upgraded app is available through MediCard Philippines.
MediCard's Monthly MediGo Rollout Plan
MediCard plans to deploy new solutions and services on the MediGo platform every month, Mengual said. The company also aims to onboard all of its more than 1 million members onto the app. MediCard expects its healthcare claims cost per member to grow by single digits this year.
