FHLBank Atlanta's Third-Quarter Results and Dividend

Net interest income for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, was $183 million, down $29 million from $212 million a year earlier. The bank attributed the decline primarily to lower interest rates, which affected interest-earning assets more than interest-bearing liabilities, and to a decrease in average advance balances, partly offset by higher average investment balances.

Average advance balances were $95.2 billion, a decrease of $7.6 billion from $102.8 billion in the same period of 2025. The net yield on interest-earning assets was 47 basis points, compared with 53 basis points a year earlier, while average daily SOFR was 3.67 percent against 4.33 percent. Annualized return on average equity was 5.71 percent, down from 6.95 percent.

Total assets stood at $166.7 billion as of September 30, 2026, an increase of $20.5 billion from December 31, 2025. Advances outstanding were $105.2 billion, up $10.2 billion, and investment balances totaled $60.3 billion, up $10.3 billion. Total capital was $9.3 billion, an increase of $645 million, and the bank said it was in compliance with all applicable regulatory capital and liquidity requirements.

"Throughout the third quarter, FHLBank Atlanta remained well positioned to meet member liquidity needs while advancing our housing and community investment mission," said FHLBank Atlanta Chair of the Board, Thornwell Dunlap. "Our solid financial results support a competitive dividend and reflect our continued focus on delivering value to our members."

The dividend will be calculated on members' capital stock held during the third quarter and credited to their daily investment accounts at the close of business on October 27, 2026. FHLBank Atlanta is a cooperative whose members include commercial banks, credit unions, savings institutions, community development financial institutions and insurance companies across eight states and the District of Columbia, and is one of 11 district banks in the Federal Home Loan Bank System, according to its website.
