Emtec's TSA Analyser at Functional Fabric Fair
The TSA measures softness, smoothness, stiffness and elasticity against reference samples. Its Virtual Haptic Library enables data sharing across supply chains to support development, quality control and approvals. The device gathers haptic properties objectively and measures differences between an approved reference product and newly formulated textiles, including surface softness, smoothness and stiffness, as well as deformation behaviour and elasticity.
Antimicrobial solutions used for odour control in apparel are expected on restricted substance lists in the EU and need to be replaced by alternative chemicals, according to the report. New odour-control substances are switched in at the finishing stage, which can alter softness, smoothness, hand feel and flexibility of a fabric. This can have noticeable consequences, especially for underwear and athletic wear containing spandex, ranging from reduced comfort to a poorer fit and potential returns.
The panel discussion "Stop the Stink" will feature experts discussing the challenges of odour control in textiles. Harrie Schoots' part focuses on helping textile manufacturers comply with the necessary requirements without compromising the feel of their products. "Those interested are invited to learn more about objective hand feel testing and talk to our textile expert Harrie Schoots in person on Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28," the company said. Schoots will also be available for personal meetings before the fair begins.
