Western Union Selects Noah to Power Stablecoin Transfers in 60 Currencies

By ·

Key takeaways

  • Western Union selected Noah to provide the on-chain banking network for its Receiver Redirect stablecoin service.
  • The service supports stablecoin transfers in over 60 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories.
  • Transfers use USDPT, a US dollar stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on Solana, and recipients collect funds into a Western Union wallet.

Western Union selected Noah to power a global platform for transferring funds between fiat currencies using stablecoin infrastructure, the company said on October 21, 2026. The Receiver Redirect service will enable stablecoin transfers in over 60 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories, according to GlobeNewswire.

How Western Union's Receiver Redirect Works

Noah's stablecoin infrastructure provides the underlying on-chain banking network for Western Union's Receiver Redirect service. The service is based on Western Union's USDPT, a US dollar stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on Solana, and uses Noah's infrastructure to enable cash transfers. Consumers can use Western Union's half a million-plus agent locations worldwide to send funds as USDPT to almost anywhere, with recipients collecting the stablecoins into a Western Union wallet. Users can hold USDPT assets indefinitely using Western Union's Stablecard, announced in August 2026.

Noah's infrastructure will provide Western Union with the treasury and licensing required to pre-fund, convert and disperse USDPT to recipients, and will ensure local regulatory compliance through adherence to stablecoin rails for all transfers. "The international movement of money through traditional banks is slow, expensive and no longer fit for purpose," said Shah Ramezani, Founder and CEO of Noah. "We're proud to provide the banking infrastructure behind Receiver Redirect, and to power the next era of international remittances for Western Union."

"Customers increasingly want greater flexibility in how they receive, hold and use money," said Malcolm Clarke, Global Head Digital Assets at Western Union. "This new capability is a global first, taking a Western Union money transfer and delivering it directly into the customers' stablecard wallet in USDPT stablecoin."

Noah's European Licences And Seed Round

Noah obtained EU MiCA CASP and PSD2 payment institution licences covering all 27 member states, The Paypers reported on October 15, 2026. The approvals enable regulated stablecoin services and fiat payments, and Noah reported over 150 new customers in 2026 with revenue up 538% year-to-date. Finextra reported on October 7, 2026 that Noah closed a $38 million seed round, with funds to expand its international money transfer service, including a New York office.

Western Union's Earlier Stablecoin Moves

Western Union selected Fireblocks in May 2026 to provide core infrastructure for USDPT, according to akta.pro company records. In June 2026, Western Union launched the Digital Asset Network connecting crypto wallets to 360,000 physical payout points across 200 countries, with Bybit becoming the first major crypto exchange integrated into the USDPT network in Latin America. Western Union agreed in June 2026 to acquire Israeli fintech GMT for approximately $70 million (200 million shekels), expanding digital wallet and fintech capabilities in the EMEA region.
