Misumi Americas launched the Misumi Imprint Foundation on October 21, 2026, with a $2 million seed investment to fund engineering scholarships, maker education and industry-academia partnerships across the United States. The company said the foundation is the first corporate giving organization in Misumi Group's 63-year history, according to [PR Newswire](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/misumi-launches-imprint-foundation-with-2-million-to-invest-in-the-next-generation-of-builders-302914916.html).

## Misumi Imprint Foundation's Scholarships and Programs

Misumi Americas is a specification-driven sourcing partner for mechanical components and assemblies, serving engineering, supply chain, procurement and manufacturing teams. The foundation's Scholarships & Access work covers need-based support for first-generation and underrepresented students in engineering, manufacturing and supply chain, at vocational, trade and university programs. Its Future Builders Programs include equipment grants for manufacturing labs, engineering team sponsorships, maker spaces and student hackathons. Industry-Academia Partnerships cover curricula built around real manufacturing problems, internship and apprenticeship pathways, and mentorship and career support.

Dave Evans, President & CEO of Misumi Americas, said the foundation addresses a talent pipeline the company sees as too narrow. "MISUMI has spent decades supplying the components engineers design into machines, so we know exactly who builds the physical world," Evans said. "We also know the talent pipeline is too narrow for the moment we're in." Evans said the approach was inspired by Buckminster Fuller's concept of the trim tab, a small secondary rudder that helps turn a large ship.

A central feature is the Partner Network, which invites Misumi's global supplier network to participate alongside Misumi Americas. Participating partners make annual, voluntary, tax-deductible contributions and join the Foundation Advisory Board, which meets twice yearly to set grant priorities and announce awards jointly. Three participation tiers, Founding Partner, Growth Partner and Community Partner, provide entry points at different commitment levels. The foundation begins its work in the United States, with the intention of expanding internationally as it matures.

Arata Shimizu, Chief Executive Officer of Misumi Group Inc., said the company and the manufacturing industry grow together. "For more than sixty years, MISUMI has supported the people who make things," Shimizu said. "The Imprint Foundation is the first time we have built an organization dedicated to the next generation of builders."

## Misumi's Earlier Ventures and Manufacturing Push

Misumi Americas launched Misumi Ventures, a $50 million venture fund targeting early-stage hardware, robotics and physical AI companies, in September 2026, according to Third News. The fund will invest $500,000 to $1.5 million in 20-30 startups. In May 2026, Misumi Group Inc. Launched Misumi Americas as a digital manufacturing partner, following its 2025 acquisition of Fictiv and backed by a $1 billion investment in AI and digital manufacturing, according to Design News Serving the 21st Century Design Engineer.
