Crusoe and Polar Expand Norway Partnership With 40MW DRA02 Data Center

By ·

Key takeaways

  • Polar and Crusoe will build DRA02, a 40MW liquid-cooled data center in Tordal, Norway, expected to go live in late 2027.
  • DRA01 is now live with 12MW of IT capacity powered by 100% hydroelectric energy.
  • Crusoe plans to deploy NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 at DRA02 to support its AI cloud expansion in Norway.

Polar Data Centers and Crusoe expanded their partnership with DRA02, a new data center at Polar's Tordal campus in Norway that plans to deliver 40MW of liquid-cooled IT capacity and is expected to go live in late 2027. GlobeNewswire published the announcement on October 21, 2026.

DRA02 Brings 40MW of Liquid-Cooled Capacity

DRA02 is the next phase of Polar's Tordal campus and will be powered by hydroelectric energy. Crusoe plans to deploy NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 at the facility to support the next phase of its AI cloud expansion in Norway, according to the announcement. The company said the expansion significantly increases the scale available to support Crusoe Cloud's growth in Europe and beyond.

The new facility follows DRA01, which is now live with 12MW of IT capacity powered by 100% hydroelectric energy. DRA01 combines modular infrastructure, advanced cooling technology and resilient electrical systems designed around the requirements of the latest GPU deployments, and supports Crusoe Cloud, Crusoe's AI cloud platform and AI services. Polar and Crusoe first announced their partnership around DRA01 in June 2025.

Andy Hayes, CEO of Polar, said: "Our ambition has always been to help our customers develop the future of AI, and our relationship with Crusoe is a great example of that in action. We've successfully delivered DRA01, Crusoe is live and operating in Norway, and we're now moving forward together with the next phase of our partnership."

Cully Cavness, Crusoe's Co-founder, President and Chief Strategy Officer, commented: "Our expansion with Polar in Norway lets Crusoe serve some of the world's most innovative companies with reliable access to Crusoe Cloud's AI cloud services. What makes Tordal stand out is that it runs on 100% renewable hydroelectric power."

Crusoe's Contracted Capacity and Funding

Crusoe has 4.9 GW contracted and a total development pipeline exceeding 40 GW, according to akta.pro company records. The same records list a $3.9 billion Series F round in September 2026 led by Atreides Management, Mubadala Capital and Valor Equity Partners, and total funding of $8.1 billion. Crusoe's Bergen Engines partnership covers a roughly 750MW power generation agreement for AI data centers in the US, comprising a 438MW contract and a 310MW letter of intent.

Earlier Crusoe Infrastructure Moves

Crusoe announced in October 2026 that its Crusoe Spark modular AI data center platform will support NVIDIA's DSX POD reference design for the Vera Rubin platform, with mass production at its 352,000-square-foot Colorado factory and liquid units planned for 2027, GlobeNewswire reported. In September 2026, Crusoe signed a multiyear cloud deal with Perplexity AI to provide cloud capacity, with Perplexity using Crusoe's Nvidia AI chips to train and run models, Bloomberg reported. Crusoe will develop Google's AI-focused data center campus in Armstrong County, Texas, outside Amarillo, with construction underway, The future of trading reported in September 2026.

DRA01 Award Recognition

DRA01 was recognised as "Most Successfully Delivered Data Centre" at the Data Centre World Awards 2026, according to the announcement.
