49ing, a Swiss sports technology company, is expanding its AI video and data platform from ice hockey into floorball, where it has onboarded its first paying customers in Switzerland, and is exploring a Series A round to fund sales and marketing. The company said it serves more than 500 clients. The details were reported by startupticker.ch.

49ing's Floorball Push and Series A Talks

49ing has built its business on the Hockey AI platform, which turns broadcast video into data and insights about the game. The platform uses computer vision and AI-assisted data collection to break down game footage, and its Data Cockpit supports player tracking, video indexing, advanced statistics and searchable match footage. The company serves more than 500 clients, including leagues, teams, scouts and federations, and is the long-term video and data partner of Switzerland's National League and Swiss League, as well as North American NCAA conferences such as Hockey East, Atlantic Hockey and ECAC.

In 2025, 49ing began expanding internationally and has since been growing by more than 100% year-on-year. Its customers include the majority of teams in Finland's top professional league, Liiga, as well as North American teams ranging from elite amateur (AAA) and prep schools to top NCAA programs and the NHL. Building on that success, the company is expanding its technology into floorball, with several paying customers in Switzerland ahead of the upcoming season.

"We have piloted projects in various hockey-adjacent sports, including field hockey, lacrosse, and floorball," said Andreas Hänni, CEO of 49ing and an experienced hockey player. "So far, we have grown mostly by word of mouth within the hockey community," he added.

49ing's Funding and Client Base

According to akta.pro company records, 49ing secured official data provider designation with the Swiss National League, anchoring league-wide deployment of the Data Cockpit platform, and established a national federation partnership with the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation covering all levels of Swiss hockey from professional to youth. The same records list 14 or more Swiss ice hockey teams and organizations as partners, including SC Bern, and an international expansion into US college hockey that onboarded more than 10 NCAA programs.

Founded in 2016, the Erlenbach-based company has remained bootstrapped, having raised CHF 2 million from friends and individual investors to build the business. Revenue is in the single-digit millions with strong double-digit growth year-on-year. 49ing employs seven full-time equivalents in Switzerland, supported by freelancers in data and engineering, and is looking to hire engineers and entrepreneurial talent interested in sports AI.

Other Sports and AI Firms Expanding

Other companies in the sector have also moved to expand. Monks, part of S4 Capital, expanded regional leadership for EMEA and APAC, with Nirvik Singh overseeing both regions and Ash Smith appointed as EVP for Asia Pacific starting November 13, 2026, Third News reported. Spanish advisory firm iCapital plans to double its advisory volume to 8,000 million euros within four years, Eleconomista reported. Entelgy appointed Juan Manuel Gómez Arenas as Country Manager for Colombia, Futurum reported.

What Comes Next for 49ing

The floorball customers are in place ahead of the upcoming season, and 49ing is in discussions to raise additional capital through a Series A round to fuel sales and marketing. The company is also recruiting engineers and entrepreneurial talent for its sports AI work.
