The course received 18,607 applicants for 244 places, while total registrations fell 4.8% to 106,165.\n\n## USP Medicine's 76.3 Candidates per Place\n\nMedicine kept its lead among the most competitive courses, but its ratio was the lowest in recent years. The index was 90.7 in the previous edition and 96.5 in the 2025 exam, an accumulated decline of about 21%. In all, 18,607 candidates competed for the course's 244 places.\n\nUntil the 2024 exam, Fuvest published Medicine's candidate-to-place ratio separately by campus, because there were three distinct courses and each candidate chose only one to compete for. From the 2025 edition, the index was presented in unified form, with the total number of candidates and places, due to the creation of a single career. With the change, a candidate may opt for one, two or all three courses, in order of preference.\n\nThe decline reached almost all the undergraduate programs at the top of the most competitive list. Psychology appeared in second and third places, with 50.9 candidates per place in São Paulo, against 58.6 in 2026, and 37.5 in Ribeirão Preto, against 39.8. International relations, at 34.8, and biomedical sciences, at 25.4, also lost demand, as did advertising and propaganda, at 24.3, and physiotherapy, at 22.5.\n\n## USP's Scale Behind the Fuvest Numbers\n\n[USP](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/000brth/usp-universidade-de-sao-paulo) is Brazil's largest public research university, maintained by the State of São Paulo, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data). It serves 97,561 students tuition-free across seven campuses, with 5,306 faculty and 12,610 staff, and produces 15,429 Web of Science papers annually. The university was founded in 1901 and is headquartered in São Paulo.\n\n## Earlier Fuvest 2027 Milestones\n\nOn August 17, 2026, Fuvest opened registrations for the 2027 USP entrance exam, offering 8,147 undergraduate vacancies with an application fee of R$228, Folha reported. On August 27, 2026, São Paulo state deputy Leonardo Siqueira filed a request asking the Fuvest foundation to justify why the university chose Fortaleza for the first phase of the 2027 Fuvest, instead of expanding test sites in interior São Paulo, Folha reported. On September 24, 2026, the USP career fair opened in São Paulo's Cidade Universitária, running through Saturday with 43 academic units, including Fuvest orientation for the 2027 exam, Folha reported.\n\n## Fuvest 2027 Exam Dates\n\nFuvest released exam locations for the first phase of the 2027 USP vestibular on October 20, 2026, with 88 addresses across 30 cities, Folha reported. The first-phase exam is on November 1, 2026, and the second phase is on December 6 and 7, 2026.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
