By ·

Key takeaways

  • Reign for WooCommerce is expected in the WooCommerce Marketplace in the first quarter of 2027.
  • The extension adds AI-built checkouts, routing across more than 150 payment integrations and AI-powered decline salvage.
  • Reign says D2C founders have earned more than $1 billion on its platform, and its decline salvage recovers 13% or more of declined payments.

Reign.com and WooCommerce announced a partnership on October 20, 2026 to bring AI-native checkout, payment orchestration and subscription billing to the more than four million online stores built on WooCommerce. The extension connecting the two, Reign for WooCommerce, is expected in the WooCommerce Marketplace in the first quarter of 2027, EIN Presswire said.

What Reign for WooCommerce Adds to Stores

Reign for WooCommerce is in development and is also expected in the WordPress.org plugin directory in the first quarter of 2027. Merchants can sign up for early access, and at launch they can connect their store themselves or have Reign's team migrate their customers, subscriptions and saved cards. WooCommerce stays the system of record for products, customers and orders, while Reign adds the checkout and payment orchestration engine.

The extension covers checkouts built by AI for shoppers arriving from a social feed, with one-page and multi-step flows, quizzes, bundles, order bumps and post-purchase upsells. It adds unlimited routing across more than 150 payment integrations, automatic recovery of failed payments through AI-powered decline salvage, and subscriptions the brand owns with portable network tokens that keep saved cards with the brand when it changes processors.

"WooCommerce gave millions of merchants ownership of their store. Reign gives them ownership of their payments: their customers, their cards on file and the freedom to route every transaction wherever it performs best," said Tim Schulz, Chief Product & Strategy Officer at Reign.

Jesse Friedman, Head of WP Cloud at Automattic, the parent company of WooCommerce, said, "Reign's arrival in the WooCommerce Marketplace gives direct-response and subscription merchants another way to tailor checkout and payments to how they sell, which is exactly what an open ecosystem is for." Automattic installed a new board of directors in September 2026 after a failed attempt to place CEO Matt Mullenweg on leave, WebProNews reported.

WooCommerce's Reach and Earlier Integrations

According to akta.pro company records, WooCommerce serves more than four million online stores and accounts for 31% of the top 1 million ecommerce sites, with 43% of the internet running on WordPress. The same records list a June 2026 YouTube Shopping integration that lets merchants sell inside YouTube, and an April 2026 move through the Stripe relationship that let WooCommerce merchants sell inside Google AI Mode and the Gemini app.

Deals That Preceded the Reign Tie-Up

WooCommerce's earlier partnerships include a June 2026 integration with Stripe's Agentic Commerce Suite from day one, enabling AI shopping assistants to transact on WooCommerce stores, according to akta.pro company records. In June 2026, Intuit Mailchimp expanded its Site Tracking Pixel to WooCommerce and Wix, alongside new integrations with Claude and ChatGPT, the same records show. Kustom partnered with WooCommerce in June 2026 to make its checkout available to over 4 million active stores across more than 200 countries, news.cision.com reported.

Early Access for Merchants

Reign for WooCommerce is expected in the WooCommerce Marketplace and the WordPress.org plugin directory in the first quarter of 2027. Brands can sign up for early access at reign.com/woocommerce.
