Open Access BPO sent more than 30 employee volunteers to plant 480 native tree saplings at the UP Laguna-Quezon Land Grant in Siniloan, Laguna, for its annual Plant It Forward program, more than doubling the 200 saplings planted in 2025. PRLog published the announcement on October 20, 2026.
Open Access BPO's Second Year at Laguna Land Grant
The saplings included bagtikan and malaruhat-puti, planted to honor Save Sierra Madre Day on September 26, which President Benigno S. Aquino III established in 2012 through Proclamation No. 413. The initiative began in May 2025, when Open Access Davao partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office to plant 100 lauan seedlings in Barangay Eden, Davao City.
"This is our second consecutive year, and we are making it an annual tradition," said Vice President Joy Sebastian. "Beyond meeting our Board of Investments-accredited target of 100 forest trees, we want to help employees hit their carbon-neutral targets."
A University of the Philippines Los Baños study found that professionals need to plant 100 to 150 trees annually to offset carbon footprints from daily commutes, energy use, and waste. Volunteers planted under foresters' guidance beneath nurse trees that give shade, reduce wind exposure, and retain soil moisture, partnering again with nonprofit Fostering Education & Environment for Development.
"Last year was about starting a commitment; this year is about strengthening it," said Employee Engagement Manager Lubert Alvaran.
Open Access BPO operates as an AI-forward customer experience and knowledge process outsourcing provider under the TDCX group. TDCX opened its second India campus at Meenakshi Eco Park in Hyderabad on August 20, 2026, reinforcing India as its fourth-largest operations base, The Tribune reported.
Open Access BPO's Ownership and Scale
Open Access BPO was acquired by Teledirect Telecommerce Inc., the TDCX Group, in April 2025, becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary aimed at strengthening TDCX's global outsourcing capacity in fintech and healthtech, according to akta.pro company records. The same records show Open Access BPO was founded in 2006 and marked its 20th anniversary in 2026 with coordinated kickoff events across its Davao, Makati, and Taipei offices.
Other Companies' Carbon Pledges
Formula 1 aims for net zero by 2030, but its cars account for only about 0.7% of emissions, with logistics and travel dominating, The Cool Down reported. HONOR pledged to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2050, becoming the first Chinese smart device brand to do so, Yicaiglobal reported.
What Comes Next for Plant It Forward
Open Access BPO said it plans to make Plant It Forward an annual tradition, following its second consecutive year at the Laguna-Quezon Land Grant. The company's continued investment supports long-term forest restoration and carbon sequestration in the Sierra Madre while protecting watersheds serving Metro Manila.
