What The New STACKTV App Offers Viewers
With a free account, viewers can stream thousands of hours of TV shows and movies, 24/7 Global News channels, and select episodes of Global's primetime shows for seven days after their broadcast premieres. To enjoy the full STACKTV experience within the app, viewers can link a STACKTV subscription through Prime Video for $14.99/month to access live and on-demand shows, movies and specials on Corus' top 15 networks, including Global, Flavour Network, Home Network, W Network, The HISTORY Channel, Adult Swim, Slice, Showcase, National Geographic, Lifetime, DTOUR, Cartoon Network, Treehouse, YTV and Disney Channel.
Viewers can alternatively link their TV provider to access networks included in their cable package, with the exception of YTV, Treehouse, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and DTOUR, which can only be unlocked with a STACKTV subscription. STACKTV access for Rogers, Bell and Eastlink customers will be available in the coming weeks.
"The launch of the new STACKTV app makes it easier than ever for viewers to access their favourite shows and live programming," said Jennifer Abrams, Senior Vice President, Content and Marketing. "By bringing more ways to watch in one app, we're giving Canadians greater choice and flexibility to discover and enjoy the series and networks they love however they choose to watch."
The new STACKTV app is taking over the current Global TV app, offering the same streaming experience with a fresh look, more content and improved functionality. It is currently available on Roku, iOS (iPhone and iPad) and web, with a rolling launch continuing this fall on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Android phones and tablets, Apple TV, LG Smart TVs and Samsung Tizen Smart TVs. Availability timing is subject to change. Once the app rollout is complete, the Global TV app will be phased out and viewers on globaltv.com will be redirected to STACKTV.ca as the new web destination.
