BioVentrix has received CPT Category III code 1132T for surgical left ventricular restoration performed by plication with an epicardial ventricular anchoring system, the company said. The code gives surgeons a dedicated way to report the procedure for heart failure patients with extensive left ventricular scarring. EIN Presswire published the announcement on October 20, 2026.
What Code 1132T Covers
Code 1132T applies to left ventricular restoration by plication using an epicardial ventricular anchoring system, a less invasive approach for patients with heart failure and extensive left ventricular scarring. Category III codes are temporary codes for emerging technologies, services and procedures. They support tracking and data collection on new procedures and can be used by payers to cover and pay for emerging technologies once a technology receives FDA authorization.
The procedure reconstructs a dilated left ventricle by excluding scarred, non-functioning heart muscle from the main pumping chamber. The aim is to restore a more normal ventricular shape and size and potentially improve the heart's ability to pump blood. The BioVentrix Revivent System, currently under investigation in the RELIVE Trial, is designed to support this type of procedure.
"The approval of code 1132T is an important milestone for surgeons treating patients with heart failure after a large heart attack, and for the field of left ventricular restoration," said Steve Chartier, President and Co-CEO of BioVentrix. "A dedicated code helps establish a clear way to report this procedure as the clinical evidence continues to develop, including through our pivotal RELIVE trial."
RELIVE is a prospective, multi-center randomized trial comparing the Revivent System plus guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) with GDMT alone in patients with symptomatic heart failure and anterior/apical left ventricular scar or aneurysm. Approximately 135 patients will be randomized 2:1. The primary safety endpoint is evaluated at 30 days, and the primary efficacy endpoint is evaluated at one year.
BioVentrix's Funding and Regulatory Record
BioVentrix is a clinical-stage medical device company developing the Revivent System, a minimally invasive cardiac remodeling platform using titanium micro-anchors to exclude scar tissue in ischemic heart failure patients, according to akta.pro company records. The company was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in San Ramon, USA.
Company records show total funding of $246.8 million, with the last round dated April 21, 2026. A Series A financing round completed in April 2023 raised $48.5 million, led by Andera Partners. In March 2026, the German Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) awarded Revivent Therapy NUB Status 1a for 2026, enabling 91 hospitals to negotiate full reimbursement coverage.
Earlier BioVentrix Milestones
BioVentrix withdrew its planned Nasdaq IPO on October 14, 2026, according to Renaissance Capital. The company had filed in February 2026 for a $17 million deal, never setting terms, and last updated its prospectus in May.
In May 2026, BioVentrix appointed Carl Byrnes as Chief Financial Officer, bringing over 25 years of finance experience, EIN Presswire reported. He will lead capital strategy and investor relations, supporting the company's pivotal RELIVE trial for its Revivent System.
In November 2025, the first patient was treated with the Revivent System in the RELIVE pivotal clinical trial at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, initiating the U.S. regulatory pathway toward FDA premarket approval.
RELIVE Trial Endpoints
The RELIVE trial's primary safety endpoint is evaluated at 30 days, and the primary efficacy endpoint is evaluated at one year. More information is available at ClinicalTrials.gov under NCT06813820.
