American Addiction Centers and the National Association of Bail Agents announced a nationwide initiative on October 20, 2026 to connect people in the legal system with addiction and mental health treatment. The effort, led by Scott Frankel, Executive Director of AAC's Recovery First Treatment Center, and NABA President Michelle Esquenazi, will equip thousands of bail agents with direct ways to connect individuals and families with care through AAC, GlobeNewswire reported.

How the Bail Agent Referral Process Works

Under the initiative, NABA members can put individuals and families in direct contact with AAC's admissions team for information about treatment options at AAC's network of facilities across seven states. Those options include medical detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient services and mental health care. Treatment resources will be available regardless of whether families ultimately secure bail through a NABA member agent, and admission will depend on individual clinical needs and applicable requirements during active legal proceedings.

Esquenazi said an estimated 60% to 80% of people seeking assistance from their bail agents may be struggling with addiction or mental health challenges. "Working with Scott Frankel and American Addiction Centers allows our members to offer a compassionate, practical lifeline to the individuals and families we serve," she said. "Our agents operate in every corner of the country. Having a trusted national ally like AAC means we can help our clients get the professional treatment they desperately need while navigating the recovery process."

Frankel said the collaboration builds on years of work between the two organizations. "Bail agents are often on the front lines, interacting with individuals at one of their lowest points," he said. "By offering immediate access to comprehensive treatment instead of a revolving door in the justice system, NABA and American Addiction Centers can truly save lives together."

American Addiction Centers' Recent Program Launches

According to akta.pro company records, AAC launched specialized clinical programs in 2026, including First Responder Lifeline, Accelerated Methadone Detox, Primary Mental Health Program and Couples Rehab. The company also launched the AAC Together alumni mobile app powered by CaredFor in December 2025, and the same records show that roughly one-third of individuals referred through the app have gone on to enter treatment. AAC operates facilities in California, Florida, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Mississippi, Nevada and Texas, and has more than 15 years of experience providing addiction treatment care.

Frankel's June 2027 Convention Appearance

Frankel will serve as a featured speaker at the NABA National Convention, scheduled for June 2027 in Houston, Texas. The convention will provide an opportunity to educate bail agents on identifying addiction and understanding treatment resources.
