LocalStack has acquired WonderTwin AI, the provider of emulators that simulate third-party applications including GitHub, HubSpot, PostHog, Stripe and 35 more on local infrastructure. The price was not disclosed. startupticker.ch reported the acquisition on October 19, 2026.
LocalStack provides a local cloud development platform that simulates the behavior of AWS and Snowflake locally, and it has more than 1,500 customers and hundreds of millions of Docker pulls. WonderTwin AI supplies application emulators for AI-native software development workflows.
LocalStack Adds WonderTwin AI Emulators
LocalStack said the integration of WonderTwin AI's application emulators lets developers simulate SaaS applications locally, improve development and testing, reduce dependency on external services, and build faster. Building and maintaining application integrations requires testing code against live instances of third-party applications through shared sandbox environments that struggle to support the scale and concurrency of AI-native software development workflows, according to the company.
LocalStack was founded by Gerta Sheganaku, COO and co-CEO; Waldemar Hummer, CTO and co-CEO; and Thomas Rausch, head of engineering. Sheganaku and Hummer are based in Zurich, as are other team members, and Swiss LocalStack GmbH is legally an affiliate of StackLift Inc., a Delaware company.
"As the way engineers build software continues to evolve, our community is discovering gaps in the stack supporting those workflows," said Waldemar Hummer, co-founder and CTO of LocalStack. "Cloud applications rarely operate in isolation. With WonderTwin AI, we're extending local development beyond cloud infrastructure to include the third-party APIs and external services applications depend on."
"The SaaS application testing environment has always been limited. AI agents broke it completely," said Tela Andrews, founder of WonderTwin AI. "Emulation was the only fix. Joining LocalStack brings full-stack emulation for applications and cloud platforms together under one roof to make concurrent, local validation seamless for any developer and any agent."
LocalStack's Funding and Platform Scale
According to akta.pro company records, LocalStack was founded in 2021, is headquartered in Zurich, and has raised $28.2 million across two funding rounds, the last a $25 million Series A in November 2024 led by Notable Capital. The same records list a revenue estimate of $10 million to $25 million and a valuation estimate of $100 million to $250 million, with a headcount range of 101 to 250.
