Waitrose is recalling its 115g Tuna Pâté after a labelling error printed a use-by date of December 17, 2026, when the correct date is October 17, 2026, the retailer said. The Food Standards Agency has urged shoppers not to consume the product, EIN Presswire reported.
Waitrose Tuna Pâté Recall and the FSA Warning
The Food Standards Agency said a food product with a problem that means it should not be sold may be withdrawn from shelves or recalled, with customers asked to return it. The agency said Waitrose is recalling the tuna pâté and that point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the product. Those notices explain why the product is being recalled and what customers should do if they have bought it.
Waitrose said: "We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product, and for the inconvenience caused." The supermarket added: "Do not consume [the item], package it up and return to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund." Customers can contact Waitrose Customer Care on 0800 188 884, Option 4, for further assistance.
The Centre for Food Safety said information on product distribution outside the UK is not available from the Food Standards Agency website. The CFS said it is investigating whether the affected product has been imported to Hong Kong and is contacting the relevant authority for further information, and that a preliminary investigation did not identify local sale or import of the affected product.
Waitrose's Scale Behind the Recall
Waitrose is a UK premium supermarket chain and the food retail division of the employee-owned John Lewis Partnership, according to akta.pro company records. The same records put Waitrose revenue at £8.5 billion for the year to January 2026, up 7% year-on-year, with more than 350 shops across the UK. The chain runs online delivery, rapid delivery through Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat, Click & Collect, and airport retail at Heathrow T2.
