Chery Auto will showcase its purpose-built, factory-integrated Level 4 Robotaxi and sign a strategic cooperation agreement with UAE-based K2 at the 2026 Chery International User Summit, held October 19-23 in Wuhu, China, according to GlobeNewswire. The Robotaxi was previously presented in April, and the planned partnership marks an initial step toward international commercial deployment.
What the Wuhu Summit Will Show
The Summit, held under the theme "ECO-TECH FOR OUR FUTURE LIFE", will bring together more than 2,000 vehicle owners, journalists and ecosystem partners. In an on-site demonstration area, visitors will see the complete driverless passenger journey: passengers book rides through an app, and cloud-based dispatch sends a Robotaxi to the pickup point. Riders can adjust cabin temperature remotely before arrival, while hazard lights signal the vehicle is ready for boarding, and the app enables one-tap door unlocking and trunk opening without an onboard driver.
The vehicle is designed for an autonomous daily operating cycle covering deployment, repositioning, energy replenishment, self-service cleaning and vehicle inspections. Chery's Robotaxi is engineered around L4 driverless operations from inception, with five native design principles: Native Architecture, Native Factory Integration, Native Experience, Native Operations and Native Global Adaptability. Its automotive-grade, six-part safety management framework covers full-cabin passenger protection; four-dimensional perception combining tactile, visual, acoustic and wave-based sensing; algorithm training and decision-making; six-fold redundant execution safety; cloud-based behavioral safety monitoring; and fleet management.
LogisticsGulf reported that Chery Auto will also showcase the FREELANDER 8 at the Summit, following the brand's Abu Dhabi global launch, with SIVP and exclusive UAE distributors Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors. FinanzNachrichten.de reported that Chery will showcase its smart energy center at the Summit, featuring China's first scaled AC V2G demonstration station, enabling bidirectional charging and grid support, and that the company plans to replicate its microgrid model at a Spanish truck park.

Chery Auto also announced cumulative global sales surpassed 20 million units and ranked No. 87 in the 2026 Fortune China 500, FinancialContent Business Page reported in October 2026.
Autonomous Driving Deals Across the Sector
Croatia-based Verne began autonomous vehicle testing in Manchester in October 2026, continuing its partnership with Pony.ai and Uber, SeeNews reported. Valeo and KE:SAI announced a joint open-science research collaboration to develop a fully reproducible, generalist AI driving system for autonomous vehicles in October 2026, The future of trading reported. Wayve CEO Alex Kendall said in October 2026 that AI driving will become mandatory in vehicles like seatbelts, The Next Web reported, citing a Stellantis and Wayve partnership to integrate Wayve's AI into Stellantis' STLA AutoDrive platform with a 2028 North American launch.
K2 Agreement and Global Rollout Plans
As the industry addresses safety compliance, production costs and commercial viability, the planned K2 agreement will support the company's efforts to bring its factory-integrated Robotaxi into commercial service overseas. Chery says the combination of purpose-built engineering and factory-integrated autonomous technology is intended to improve passenger experience, operational efficiency and cost competitiveness at scale. The company plans to expand its global Robotaxi operations as part of a broader effort to develop mass-production-ready, sustainable driverless mobility solutions.
