Canada is investing $18.5 million in Prevost, a division of Volvo Group Canada Inc., to support an $87.5 million project developing a new vehicle platform with electric propulsion options. Mirage News reported the investment, which is made through the Strategic Response Fund.
Prevost's One Platform Project
Joël Lightbound, Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement and Quebec Lieutenant, announced the investment on behalf of Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions. The One Prevost Platform will support multiple propulsion technologies, including clean and zero-emission options.
"Prevost will modernize its bus platform using electric propulsion technologies, including low- and zero-emission solutions," the announcement said. The project aims to strengthen Prevost's supply chain and research and development capacity.
The investment will help secure Prevost's long-term manufacturing presence in Sainte-Claire, Quebec, and enable the development of new intellectual property. It aligns with Canada's new auto strategy, which Prime Minister Carney announced in February 2026. The project will maintain 1,265 full-time equivalent jobs and employ students for 156 co-op terms in Canada.
Prevost's Recent Expansion Moves
According to akta.pro company records, Prevost executed a multi-site North American service network expansion in 2026, adding a Goodlettsville, Tennessee collision center, relocating its Franklin Park, Illinois facility to Elk Grove, deploying a Las Vegas mobile service unit, and breaking ground on a new Randleman, North Carolina facility in spring 2026. The Goodlettsville expansion added 32 parking spaces and increased service bays from 13 to 19. The same records describe Prevost as North America's leading motorcoach manufacturer and a member of Volvo Group.
Earlier Service Network Growth
In September 2026, Prevost opened a new service center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, investing $8.1 million, PR Newswire reported. The facility expanded from 9,000 to 29,000 square feet, adding five service bays and 60 leased parking spots. In August 2026, Prevost expanded service hours at select locations to reduce vehicle downtime and improve scheduling flexibility for motorcoach operators, Busandmotorcoachnews reported.
