eHealth Africa signed a cooperation protocol with Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population on October 10, 2026, in Berlin, Germany, to advance digital health transformation, artificial intelligence and public health innovation across Africa. EIN Presswire reported the agreement, which establishes a framework for collaboration in health information systems, AI-based diagnostics, disease surveillance, public health analytics, teleradiology and stroke care, alongside capacity building and regional health initiatives.

The Berlin Signing and Its Scope

Adam Thompson, EHA Group Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of eHealth Africa, and Prof. Mohamed Fawzi, Advisor to Egypt's Minister of Health and Population for Radiology Affairs, signed the protocol. Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, H.E. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, witnessed the signing.

Thompson said, "This collaboration reflects our belief that Africa has the expertise, infrastructure and experience needed to develop solutions that respond to its unique healthcare challenges." He added that bringing together African institutions, technology and implementation experience can strengthen health systems and expand access to quality healthcare.

Atef Fawaz, eHealth Africa's Executive Director, who was part of the delegation, said, "This collaboration goes a long way towards connecting African expertise with regional and international opportunities to advance sustainable health systems."

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population, said the cooperation aligns with the Ministry's efforts to leverage modern technologies and digital solutions, expand international partnerships and facilitate knowledge exchange between Egypt and other African countries. He said the cooperation includes supporting the expansion of teleradiology services across Africa, collaborating on stroke care programs, participating in regional health initiatives led by Egypt, and developing joint programs and projects that could be implemented through international financing mechanisms and donor organizations.

Under the protocol, the two institutions intend to establish a Joint Working Group to coordinate collaborative activities and explore initiatives aligned with their shared priorities. Specific projects and programs will be developed through mutually agreed implementation arrangements.

eHealth Africa's Operating Record

According to akta.pro company records, eHealth Africa operates across 26 or more African countries with technology-enabled health solutions, and its platforms have supported the delivery of more than 24,316,126 vaccine doses through Vaccine Direct Delivery in Nigeria, plus 42 million life-saving vaccine doses delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic. The records list a 2018 grant of $50,000 as its only funding round on file, and note a May 2026 partnership with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria supporting the VIVO Health app ecosystem for emergency response and healthcare coordination.

The same records show a March 2026 partnership with the World Health Organization focused on strengthening outbreak detection and response capabilities across Africa, and a March 2026 collaboration with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on public health emergency management strategy in Nigeria. In June 2026, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned upgraded Polio Emergency Operations Centres in Kano, Katsina and Sokoto states, publicly commending eHealth Africa and its partners for strengthening immunization and outbreak response.

Joint Working Group Next Steps

The protocol states that eHealth Africa and Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population intend to establish a Joint Working Group to coordinate collaborative activities. Specific projects and programs will be developed through mutually agreed implementation arrangements, with the objective of advancing digital health innovation, strengthening healthcare delivery and promoting regional health cooperation across Africa.
