Tesla's vice president of energy and charging, Mike Snyder, has left the company, with AJ Booth, senior director of energy products engineering, named as his replacement, TradingView reported, citing The Wall Street Journal and people familiar with the matter. Snyder has not publicly announced his exit.
Snyder's Tenure Leading Tesla Energy
Snyder joined Tesla in 2014 as a staff electrical engineer, according to his LinkedIn profile, and climbed through roles before taking the top energy job in October 2024. He replaced Drew Baglino, who is now founder and CEO of two clean energy startups, Heron Power and Sadi Thermal Machines.
Tesla's energy business was formed with the company's $2.6 billion acquisition of SolarCity in 2016, and the company combined its in-house battery storage developments under the segment. The segment has since scaled, reporting energy generation and storage revenue of $12.77 billion in 2025, about 13.5% of overall revenue, while automotive revenue continued to account for a majority.
Tesla's energy storage lineup includes the Powerwall for home storage and the commercial-scale Megapack. The company operates Megapack megafactories in Lathrop, California, and Shanghai, China, and a new factory in Texas commenced production in August. Tesla is also reportedly planning a major solar manufacturing facility in Texas codenamed Project Crystal Sun.
Earlier this month, Tesla said it deployed 13.7 GWh of energy storage products, compared with 12.5 GWh in the corresponding period of 2025, a growth of about 10%. Snyder's exit comes as CEO Elon Musk attempts to pivot the company away from just EVs and clean energy toward robotics and artificial intelligence.
Tesla's Berlin Production Ramp
According to akta.pro company records, Tesla announced in October 2026 a 20% production boost at its Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg to 7,500 vehicles per week starting that month, with 1,000 additional vehicle production hires plus 1,500 for battery cell manufacturing. The same records list a June 2026 partnership with Sunrun and Renew Home to aggregate residential energy devices, including Tesla Powerwall, solar panels and smart thermostats, into a virtual power plant delivering more than 16 GW of flexible energy capacity to data centers and utilities.
Earlier Tesla Developments
Tesla's 2026.38.3 software update added Halloween-themed effects, including flashing lights and spooky sounds when visitors approach, along with digital costumes, a photo booth and remote messaging via the app, Ambito reported. Tesla is continuing permit preparations for its Grünheide plant expansion and aims to produce one million electric vehicles annually there, FAZ.NET reported, while Wiwo reported the company is accelerating the Berlin-Brandenburg expansion citing higher demand.
Tesla told the U.S. Supreme Court to take a case over the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's discretionary standards for patent review, Law360 reported, citing a government brief that shows the office wants "absolute power" in restricting such reviews.
