Veterinarians use it after surgery and for chronic pain, hospice and palliative care, antibiotics, and other cases that call for continuous medication delivery.\n\nA 2025 study in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Erger et al.) reported an 89.5% success rate for outpatient continuous infusion, with costs roughly 60 to 70 percent lower than inpatient care.
