IVI Institute acquired The World Egg and Sperm Bank, a Scottsdale, Arizona provider of donor egg and donor sperm services, the company said on October 15, 2026. The price was undisclosed. The acquisition expands access to reproductive solutions for patients and fertility clinics across the United States and Australia. The announcement was distributed by PR Newswire.

IVI Institute Adds The World Egg and Sperm Bank

IVI Institute said The World Egg and Sperm Bank has joined its global group, combining the bank's donor care and ethical standards with IVI's clinical and scientific expertise. The World Egg and Sperm Bank manages donor recruitment, qualification, cycling and storage in-house from its Scottsdale facility and offers access to more than 500 rigorously screened donors.

"Welcoming The World Egg and Sperm Bank into the IVI Institute family is an important step in helping more people realize their hopes of becoming parents," said Javier Sanchez-Prieto, Chief Executive Officer of IVI Institute. He said growing global demand for donor eggs and donor sperm stems from women delaying their first pregnancy.

Diana Thomas, Founder of The World Egg and Sperm Bank, said she made a deliberate choice years ago that IVI Institute would be her only partner. She said the bank will maintain its existing clinic relationships while joining IVI Institute's network of clinics.

Isabel Gonzalez, Global Lab Director for IVI Institute, said the integration strengthens the network's ability to serve patients with laboratory excellence and donor care. She said the bank's screening protocols and transparent practices align with IVI's mission.

IVI Institute said pregnancy rates per embryo transfer in egg donation treatments are around 60%, based on its global published results. The announcement follows the launch of IVI Institute earlier this week and its inaugural Fertility Barometer, a study of more than 24,000 women across nine countries.

World Egg and Sperm Bank's Screening Record

According to akta.pro company records, The World Egg and Sperm Bank was established in 2004 as the first dedicated egg bank in the United States. The same records list a revenue estimate of $10 million to $25 million and a valuation estimate of $10 million to $50 million.

In July 2015 the bank launched the Compatibility Genetic Test with iGenomix, becoming the first U.S.-based egg bank to offer next-generation DNA sequencing screening of more than 4,000 mutations across more than 500 genes. In August 2014 it established a channel partnership with Genea Fertility to distribute donor eggs across European markets, and in December 2011 it began a three-year partnership as sole provider of donor eggs in Brisbane, Australia.

Fertility Barometer Findings

IVI Institute's Fertility Barometer found that 34% of U.S. women had their first child later than expected, and that 34% of U.S. women are having children six years later than they had intended. The study covered more than 24,000 women across nine countries. IVI Institute said the data points to increased need for reproductive medicine treatments, including egg donation.
