Battelle has been awarded a five-year, $12.3 million contract from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide information systems and technical data support for the agency's National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network, and has been named an awardee under a five-year, $25 million ATSDR public health mission support blanket purchase agreement. Business Wire published the announcement on October 15, 2026.

Battelle's Two CDC Awards Explained

Battelle said the Tracking Network integrates environmental and health data so communities can identify and address public health risks. Battelle has supported the network since 2008. Under the contract, the company will provide information systems support, technical data services, coordination and analytical capabilities intended to keep the national resource effective and accessible.

"These awards reflect the trust CDC continues to place in Battelle's ability to translate complex scientific and public health challenges into actionable solutions that improve health outcomes," said Denise Johnson, Vice President, Health Research and Analytics at Battelle.

Brandon DeHart, Project Director for the NEPH Tracking Network at Battelle, said environmental public health challenges increasingly require data integration, analytics and collaboration across multiple stakeholders. The CDC's Tracking Network connects environmental hazard, exposure and health data from federal, state and local sources.

The second award places Battelle on the CDC Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry Public Health Mission Support Services blanket purchase agreement, a five-year, multiple-award vehicle with a ceiling value of $25 million. Through it, Battelle will be eligible to provide services that help evaluate environmental exposures and their potential health impacts, conduct public health assessments and health studies, and translate scientific evidence into public health action.

The same records list a $6.1 million BARDA award for a human lung tissue chip platform for COVID-19 therapeutics testing, and a $416 million five-year cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation to manage NEON.
